Lord will travel with 8 Marines, using Icon to direct in Terminators. Which he will then join. In this set up no troops would be deployed on the table at the start of the game.

Get some combi-weapons for the terminators, use demon princes and cult marines. Other then that, stable and dangerous.

Also, its not a demon army(like title says) but a chaos space marine one.

Another guestion then also. Which Combi weapon is suggested? Melta or plasma?

Mayority combi-plasma with a few combi-meltas I would say. Heavy flamers are also pretty good with the incursion of hordes with coversaves, esp. since they also cost 5 pts only.

Wow, that's a different chaos list, I dig at first look. However, I also note that your troops are a) light and b) illegal. 1000 Sons squads need to have 4+ rubrics and 1 sorcerer, you can't just buy automatons with nobody to lead them around. Also, I think you might have too many terminators, but I do like that Dustwing element of the list so will hold back the salvage stick for now ...

I second the inclusion of some heavy flamers in there, maybe 1 in each terminator squad. Same points as 1 combi for a potentially VERY useful weapon in the wild cover save happy world of 5th.

All the same I like the other one a bit more, but I'm no fan of preds. Maybe they'll be a bit better in the new rules for vehicles, though they'll certainly be less shooty on the move :S

Thanks for the idea. My 8 Thousand Sons was just a generic post, its really 7 sons and 1 AS, but I did't realize the cost of the Sorc. I did fail to read that he must be given a Psychic so I will have to add that in.

I am hesitant to give them a icon though, I plan to keep them back with the predators and use as ranged. Then Deep Strike the 3 units of Terminators on top of their units. You can have up to 3 Elite units of 10 Terminators, though to get all these troops in it costs around 1700 points. I do want to keep the 3 Predators though till I see how 5th edition will play out with people bringing tanks, and 2 Heavy Bolters per vehicle isnt bad either.

Its a fluffy Thousand Sons army.
However, the new missions require more troops; troops-scoring only (thank you GW).
Therefore, I'd replace one Termie squad by another TS squad.

Only troops are scoring units, yes, but other units can still contest. Also, killing everything = win. However, if they manage to gun down your 16 TS... then you're SOL.

The icons are insurance, 10 points to guarantee a safe place for the termies to come down and bring the mayhem. Your sons need to be within 24" - preferrably 18" or so - of the enemy to start the killing, which can put the termies in a decent forward fire position or objective drop or whatever. And since you are or are going to be a Tizz player, you should know that the dice gods hate Tizz most of all ... so bad scatters are to be expected, new deep strike chart or not!

And yeah, lack of troops struck me as well. I'm for swapping out 1 termi squad for another 1000 Son mob. So take my second list, drop the small terminators, add some 1000 Sons with the points available.

Thanks for all the info, I am starting to like your suggestions for the second list more and more, I think this will be a fun army to start modeling and painting.

Dont bring a 5 man terminator squad with a icon, that is just overkill to buy 35 pts icon for such a small squad though. Better lump in so you get 2x10 if you want that, or just run 2x8 terminators and another DP or 1k sons squad.

It might also be helpful to know that rhinos can't transport your termie armored lord.

If you ditch the 5 termie squad from that last list and ditch two more from the other squads (with the combi upgrade they are equipped with), you can add a third 10ksons squad identical to the other two. You could also beef up the termies with a fourth powerfist each. It would look like this

Less Termies to be sure BUT the ones you have pack a nasty punch and you have more troops.
