Didn't see the specific entry stating that close combat blocks LOS in the BGB.

It appears that according to the BGB on pg. 22 (Firing through units...) you could say that friendly models in the close combat don't block LOS and the gaps (if any) between enemy models engaged in the close combat provide a cover save to the target unit.

Please point me to the page that states otherwise.

No it does not. In 5th ed "if you can see it you can shoot it"

It is not a cut and dry yes or no as it used to be. First off, all models that are not part of the firing unit block LOS. You can fire between the gaps of models, but the models themselves block line of sight. So, if your models and the enemy models are tight enough together you would not be able to draw line of sight through the close combat.

The main thing to remeber is what Red_Lives said...."If you can see it you can shoot it"

Which if you are following the 5th pile in moves, and removing casualties from the back to preserve your engaged attacks, you should be mostly base to base to base etc... at the end of most combats. May get touchy with hordes/ weird angles, but you really for the most part IMHO should not even have this come up in a game.
