Hey all, i've been playing the GW systems for 6 years now, and i was looking for some other kinds of mini's to paint. I'm particularly interested in companies that produce busts, or historical models, or fantasy models, preferably in the larger of the scales. Can anybody point me in some direction? Also, it'd help if they were located in the U.S.

Thanks

Perrys are doing 40mm Napoleonics. Front Rank is doing 40mm AWI and Miniature Service Center has a nice line of 40mm AWI as well.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Rackhams Confrontation.

Very nice fantasy minitures, shame about the rules.

You could buy D&D miniatures, while they are sold in blind 'collectors' packs you can buy them individually at good prices on the net easily enough.

For historicals I would shop around, do lots of web searches and see for yourself.

As rules go Flames of War are accessible for models. I suggest you cut mini scale to 10mm or less for moderns. For Napoleonics go for 15mm, trust me you will not regret the decision. For Ancients go 15 or 25.

Warhammer Ancients is fun, its based on 5th edition and has some rule chnages in it that I wish they would implement in Warhammer Fantasy. While you can play Warhammer Ancients with 15mm unit basing only need be relative to each other, it is best played just like Warhammer.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

In historical miniatures, I personally can recommend Pegaso Models. I've done their Teutonic Knight in 54mm scale, and it was a thing of beauty. Absolutely stunning cast, needed very little prep.

Rackham's metal Confrontation range is also very nice for "showcase" painting, their sculpts have a lot of detail and reward a careful painter.

The supply does not get to make the demands.
