sorry for the pun up top, a little cheese. well I was thinking that, with the huge numbers of rumors going on, this forum could be used to forcast future fluff based on product rumors as well as inferrences from what we know. starting out, we know the imperium is in for some deep truble. the rumors also suggest an increae in special function charachters in the new SM codex. this leads me to believe that the emporor must call on his greatest worriors and their champions to keep terra from being destroyed.

I can't cite my sources, because I don't remember them, but I have heard several times that the golden throne is failing, and that the tech adepts of terra don't know how to fix the technology anymore. Needless to say, the emperor is probably a bit distracted by the fact that he's finally kicking the bucket, and thus no doing as much in the warp as he usually does.

IMO, the special character thing is just their way of still allowing people to play customized chapters without actually having customization options. Since there are a bajillion chapters, there had to be a bajillion special characters so as to not piss anybody off.
