Morning all,
My gaming group switched from playing 40k exclusivly to fantasy about 5 years ago, and now there are a few of us bouncing the idea of a 40k escalation league in the near future. The specifics havnt been hashed out, but i know that i want to field a cityfight lysander based IF list. Although im sure the core mechanics havn't changed much, i dont know much about 5th in regards to the current flavor of tactics, so i would really appreciate some guidance in making this list into force that im confident in bringing to a tourney or two in the future (although it is mainly for competitive friendly play).
My overall design is to have an infantry based force led by a ven dread on the ground, with Lysander and his goons teleporting in for support where i need it. Other than that i want an army that can lay down a good ammount of firepower against combat superior forces (untill my terms get there), or can engage in assault vs more static shooty armies.
Brainstorm so far:
Ground
Ven Dread (AC/HF)
2 x Scout Squad (1 sniper / 1 ccw)
10 man Tactical (Meltagun, HB, Vet w/PF, Rhino)
10 man Tactical (Flamer, HB, Vet w/PF, Rhino)
10 man Tactical (Plasma, ML, Tank Hunters)
Cavalry
Lysander
4 man command terms (2x HF)
5 man term (2 x AC, Tank Hunters)
5 man term (2 x HF)
I have Modeled and painted Lysander and 5 terms with another 5 modeled also (with a total of 2 AC and 2 HF done), so that is pretty much set in stone. Other than that, how would yall fill out the remaining points? What size should my scouts be? (i was thinking a 10 man ccw, but not sure about the snipers) How many teleport homers should i bring? (since they have a bit more range than when i last played im wondering if i only need 2-3) Thoughts on a dev squad to anchor the firesupport? I want this force to be quasi-siege oriented, do you think the tele terms will give be enough to compensate for the slowness of the footsloggers? thoughts welcome
