I have deviced a list, and I was hoping for some input. The list is not for competitive play, but I still won't mind winning. So here we go, I'll hide my comments beneath the units.

There we are. Strategy in a nutshell: slow stuff goes in the middle, cramped together around the Lord with a CC on each side (overlapping on the GG). The Varghulf strolls up one flank with his Wolves and 6-Black Knight friends, while the Wight King grabs the 5-Black Knights and heads for the other flank. Cue pincer manouvre

I do not know alot about VC but I do know this. You gotta have a magic hat. (Helm of command) it is the single best buy in the VC army book.

Thanks for your reply Russell.
Since all my characters are either too low in WS (Wight/Necros) or have filled their quota (65pts for the main item on Lord) I don't see where that fits in. I know it's a good item, but I don't really fancy buying a Vampire muppet with it for the sole purpose of standing behind my lines and making skeletons kill a couple more enemies a turn. It would be great to have WS6/7 for the Black Knights without hatred though...

Any further comments vastly appreciated.

The flayed Hauberk might be a little much for the Lord. I would consider swapping that for the helm if you can. Also you should have enough points to give him the M9 talisman.

If the vampire gets in combat with anything that is really flighty he is going to be dead rather quickly even with the 1+ save. Better off giving the unit of grave guard the WS they need to win combats.

Basicaly I would have it so that at no point an Enemy can get off a charge with anything other than a single model.If he is on foot he can maneuver so that he stays out of combat and out of LoS of enemy shooting and magic.

What about Magical spells that does D6 attacks to evey unit on the table? Against for example lore of heavens I'd get smacked no?
Also a lucky cannon bounce is all thats needed to smother him across the landscape...

I don't know, is it really a viable option?
