Subject: Non Metallic Brass....ideas?

Check it out..
Creating my own SM chapter and the main colors are black and brass.
Have what they call a "color-deficieincy" but I call colorblind, so I pretty much only use the citadel colors(they have names on'em)
Trying to make a cloth-of-brass to match the metallic brass of the armor (kinda like the New Orleans Saints have gold on their jerseys that matches the gold on their helmets.....but it aint shiney)
All my own attempts at making this elusive color have ended in misery, and pain (and even a skosh humiliation...for my poor, poor dog) as the closest I can get is a very sick looking orange(no nurglings I don't remember how)
I understand color theory and how it works, but I just can't seem to get over this one issue, so if anyone has any mixing ideas (citidel colors please) or if anyone knows of another company that might have an equivalent, please, I beg of you, don't be shy, let me know.
My puppy will thank you.

I use snakebite leather as my starting point for NMM brass. I don't really know how one would go about painting NMM brass that isn't shiny, though =/ So I guess snakebite is all I have to offer.

Try Reaper's Palamino Gold: it's a deep NMM gold color that would support a warmer tone nicely but is completely flat. Think of Crayola Crayon's "Maize" color... I use it to base the metallics I put over it and it works beautifully. Remember that brass is a very yellow "gold" color - like a doorknob.
The great thing about the Reaper colors is that while they have names like Citadel colors, they also have SKU's, indicating their color triads - shade grouped in dark, mid, and light tones (most of the time anyway) - making it VERY easy to know where a color lies in terms of depth/hue.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
