I have just put out a new release of dakka which has a few features that I should highlight here.

First of all, there are now adverts shown in the forum threads to users who are not logged in. This is something that pains me to add, and we had a big debate about it in the moderator forums. We have added it as an experiment to see if it encourages new users to sign up, and if not, to see if it makes a big difference to the income from non-registered users. It is not something we like especially, and we will be tweaking it to try and get the right level between annoyance and sign-up encouragement so you might see it appear then disappear and appear again over the next few months if you are not a registered user. If you are a registered user and are logged in then nothing will seem different to you though.

Any time someone makes you a 'friend' you will now get a PM informing you of the fact, and you can disable this and other automated PMs from your user profile.

There have been a load of tweaks and bugfixes this release, so if anything is glitchy or is bugging you, or if there is any feature you would like to see added then please comment in this thread. We are working on updating the gallery right now so you might not see your ideas implemented until 2009 but we welcome all thoughts.

I've noticed that despite having them blocked both ways I can, it seems to take Dakka a minute to load up the top bar then it displays the forums.

Could you be clearer and more specific regarding the problem please?
