Burning Star IV wrote:I have to say, I don't like this list very much. You don't have any good CC units (in either list), and not enough guns to stop your opponent from getting there. I would say to drop AT LEAST one of the Fire Dragon squads. Drop the star engines on the Falcons, and give them Bright Lances. In those Falcons, put some Scorpions and some Banshees.
As for the farseer, I really don't see how he can help in this list. I don't think the farseer is the problem though, I think it's the list. The enemy will have to be within 12" for your Doom to really be useful (could work with pathfinders, MAYBE), and the guide will only help a few shots, no matter which unit you cast it on. All in all, I think it's a lot of guardians, and all to get 3 Bright Lances.
I think, in 1500, you could stand to drop 2 Guardian Squads and one or two pathfinders to squeeze those DA in there (with their Transport). They can lend supporting fire early on, and if things get sticky, they can be whisked away in the Wave Serpent.
After all that, make a new list, and we can work from there.
Okay. Eldar do not always need
CC units. They work fine just built around speed, and speed alone. The key with the Space Elves is Synergy.
Brightlances are not needed on Falcons. They come with a Pulse Laser that is heavy 2. Plus, they can only fire S4 weapons and one main weapon if they move over 6" now.
EML is the best way to go. Star Engines are great, but not for Falcons. If you just wanted a dedicated transport, i.e. Wave Serphent, then the upgrade would be fine. Falcons always need Halo-Fields and if you want them, Spirit Stones. Scorpions are never good in small numbers. So a squad of 6 in a Falcon is a big bulls-eye waiting to be re-painted red. Remeber, with combat units, the rule of "8" is always good to follow. If you wanted a dedicated assault unit, throw a unit of Harlys in a Falcon and call it a day. The problem with the Falcons are they are only BS3. So they miss alot. If you want something with a bigger bite for a heavy, think about Prisms over Falcons.
The War Walkers seem out of place. If you are just trying to pump alot of shots into a squad, then you are better off running
DA's with a Serphent and Bladestorm. AP6 S6 with 4 shots is great but it wont kill many horde armies. Shuriken Cannons are at least AP5. Only 24" though.
One last thing. For the Fire Dragons. You really dont need a Exarch. The 18" melta is good, but still only gets the melta rule at 6". Crack shot is worth taking. It'll make sure you get rid of tanks. Remember that they move 6" and fire 12". You can move your Falcon, disembark, and shoot. Next turn, move and shoot.
