So, I've decided to get back into 40k with the release of 5th edition. I wanted an army that was visually different from what I've currently got (lots of Iron Warriors, about 4k worth of Space Pups, about half an Armored Company, and about 2k worth of infantry Necrons).

I think I want to do just a basic space marine army - no chapters with their own books and rules - just bare-bones space marines. And I want a completely different color scheme.

I came up with something I think I like, after doing a test model (scout). Black primer. Armor is warlock purple and bleached bone. Vents, hoses, joints and the like will be dark grey. I don't think I'll do any metal on these guys - all boltgun metal will be replaced with either lighter or darker shades of grey.

But this is nagging at the back of my mind. Where have I seen these colours before? Is there a chapter out there with these already? The Soul Drinkers are close, but not the same purple.

Also, I'm looking for assistance with my palette - mainly in the waxen seal on a purity seal, and on the eyes of the armour. Normally I'd do red, but it clashes a bit with the reddish hues in the warlock purple. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

yellow-bright orange purity seals should look good. also, salamander green purity seals could look good as well.

You could do a stark white purity seal, but just make sure it contrasts enough with the paper on the seal.

For some reason I think of Eldar when you say about purple and bleached bone together, maybe one of their schemes?

WEll, purple + bone is usually associated with the Emperor's Children and their slaaneshy offshoots. Thye Hawk Lords sound close, but they have yellow trim, not bone.
