I've been out of the WFB loop forever, and had sold all my minis and rulebooks, at least that's what I thought until doing soem house cleaning I found an old copy of the WFB6 Tomb Kings Army Book (I think it's still valid in WFB7, right?). As Tomb Kings have always been my favourite army (right back until they were called Undead...) I figured I'd knock out a list. It seems 2250 has become the Standard point size, so here's the list. Help me make it more deadly please

No response at all? either this list is the greatest thing since the invention of beer and can do wrong so there's no point commenting on it.

    OR

This list is so diabolically bad, peeople reading must assume I don't have the mental capacity to understand criticism & comments

    OR

People are just ignoring me. That makes the Chaplain a sad panda.

From my experience, horseman are really really weak. My only suggestion would be drop them for another skull catapult.

With so many priests, you can get 4 shots off with them and make enemies come to you, then tie them up with skeletons before tomb guard get the flank charge.

Never attribute to malice which can rightly be explained by stupidity.

What's so bad about Horsemen? I am thinking of ditching them, but I'd liek to know why I should.

Do I have too many Priests? I'm debating switching my Lord to a Tomb King and taking some Core Chariots, but I worry a regular Priest is too weak to be a Hieropahnt, and I'm not sure how to protect him, as the Cloak is a lot less useful in WFB7 than 6 from what I've seen in the forums.

You could certainly use either some additional fast stuff and/or tunnelers as you'll take a pounding from enemy shooting otherwise. Also taking an icon of rakaph for one of the tomb guard units is a no-brainer. I'm not too keen on the horsemen either as they are just skeles on horsies which means poor stats and hitting power and their main goal is trying to autobreak due large US and fear (and this isn't so easy anymore as you need more models to gain rank bonus and several armies have ItP-stuff around). At least the chariots which are bit on the same vein deal impact hits. Regarding the cloak of dunes, it's still a very nice item for either zipping your hierophant around to cast incantations and avoid trouble (a tomb king can make a good use of this item as well).

Your army is going to be painfully slow, 4" move on everyone but your weak cavalry. You have 4 blocks of infantry at the expense of burrowers/chariots/giants...i think you could drop one (or two) and get some complementary units.

i would take a tomb king instead of the high priest, that way you have a great fighter in the army, and charriots become core.
then 3 liche priests for some magic.

    Core

    3 charriots

    3 charriots

    20 bowmen (2 units of 10)

2 solid units of skellies with shields or spears.

    Special

19 tomb guard (tomb kings unit)

    4 ushabti

    tomb scorpion

    5 carrion

    Rare

    screaming skull cat.

    bone giant.

with that army you get alot of flexability, great ammounts of magic, a few solid fighting units, and some nice shooting (keep a priest near the SSC for extra shooting)
also, with this you have things like the carrion and scorpion to attack war machines and anything that pose a serious threat (such as a unit of knights about to charge your heiorophant) simply move the carrion / scorpion in as a shield, its worth losing that unit rather than lose the whole army.

Thanks, but I was more asking for advice than just a whole list to copy, Carnagel & JD

Oh, and JD while the Ushabti are great looking models, every time I've seen them used, their main purpose appears to be dying before they get to do anything.

Carnagel, your list seems a little light on the numbers, and I think I'd rather have a TK & 3 Priests rather than King, Prince & Two Priests.

chaplain, i know what you mean, i have a unit of 6, used mainly to draw fire, but my liche priests can generally restore 90% of wounds they lose.

i like that list alot more, allthought it might be worth getting a bone giant aswell, if your going to be fighting an army with great armour saves ie; bretonian, dwarf, chaos, then he will do great at killing off high point well armoured models, and with his unstoppable assult rule he can make a real mess out of elite infantry.

also, might be a good idea to take some carrion, even 3 will do, just forhunting war machines, as most will make a mess off your army from turn 1.

I think between the two Scorpions and three Swarms he can take care of any War Machines.
I'd probably drop the Talisman of Protection and the Scorpion Armor in favour of something like the Golden Ankhra.
From what I've read using the Scorpion armor assumes your character is going to die, never a good premise.
The Tomb Guard will do a lot better with either the Undying Legion or Rakaph banners.
