This is my attempt at making a competitive Blood Angels list:

HQ
Dante, Lord of the Blood Angels

Honor Guard - Jump Packs, 2x Melta Guns, Blood Angels Chapter Banner, Exsanguinator

Chaplain Lemartes

Honor Guard - Jump Packs, 2x Melta Guns, Exsanguinator

Troops
10x Assault Marines - Powerfist

10x Assault Marines - Powerfist

5x Assault Marines - Powerfist

Elites
5x Veterans - 2x Plasma Guns

5x Veterans - 2x Plasma Guns

7x Deathcompany - Jump Packs

Total - 1755

I'm going to have to shave off that 5 points somewhere, but I'll figure that out later.

Dante will go with his command squad and Lemartes will lead the Death Company.

Obviously the list is a little light on anti-tank but I don't think there is a way to get around that with all Jump Infantry.

I'm up for any and all suggestions. Let me know what you think of the list. Thanks.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

You do not really have any anti-tank.

Heavy support is for tank hunting, not your HQ. You want to have your HQ in assault, and not flying all over the board trying to chase after vehicles.

Why the veterans? In 5th you want to have as many troops as possible.

I'm guessing the vets are there to get some additional special weapons as Troops Assault Squads get none. That is one of the problems with the BA list.

And while I agree that, in general, you shouldn't be using your HQ for Tank Hunting, but with Dante's Inferno Pistol, you can certainly use him and his squad as such - you can either see it as a dual-threat, or a waste of being able to assault instead of tank hunt and vice versa.

If you're going to keep them, I would change up the Plasma Guns in your vet squads for Meltas. I think you'll get more utility out of the Meltas in 5E. It might indeed be better to change them out for more Assault Squads, though.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Yeah, the vets are there to get extra special weapons because I can't get any in assault squads. I changed the list up a little bit to get more troops:

HQ
Dante, Lord of the Blood Angels

Honor Guard - Jump Packs, Powerfist, Blood Angels Chapter Banner, Exsanguinator

Chaplain Lemartes

Honor Guard - Jump Packs, 2x Melta Guns, Exsanguinator

Troops
10x Assault Marines - Powerfist

10x Assault Marines - Powerfist

10x Assault Marines - Powerfist

Elites
5x Veteran Assault Marines - 2x Melta Guns

8x Death Company - Jump Packs

Total - 1750

I dropped the meltas out of the command squad and added a powerfist. I also dropped one of the veteran squads to up the 3rd assault squad to 10 man. With the last 70 points, I bought 2 Death Company marines.

Let me know if this list is any better.

its alright as long as you come to grips with the fact that your 5 vets will never melt anything. they are the only slow unit in your army, and i would venture a guess that the game will have been won or lost by the time they get within 12" of anything

Fantasy: 4000 - WoC, 1500 - VC, 1500 - Beastmen
40k: 2000 - White Scars
Hordes: 5/100 - Circle of Orboros

The Veterans are a Veteran Assault Squad, Blood Angels can't get regular veterans. I've edited the list to say Veteran Assault Squad instead.

Lemartes.
9xDeath Company w/Jump Packs.
3xVet Assault w/meltagunx2 + powerfistx1
6xAssault squads w/powerfist

That's 55 Jump Pack marines that assault on turn 2.

12" + 12" + D6" + 12" + 6" = 43-48".

Who's killing this army in a single turn?

Why are you worried about tanks?

You hit everything on the rear armor, and Land Raiders you pop with the meltaguns.

Monoliths? Screw monoliths. Jump over them, massacre the Necrons standing around and phase them out.

Stelek's list is 1745. My only tweak would be to remove a Vet Ass Squad to recover 195 points (150 + 20 +25) and pickup Dante. That leaves you with 8 powerfists and 5 meltaguns (Dante's pistol is the 5th). Run Dante down the middle to affect as many squads as possible with Preferred Enemy. Either way works though.

Stelek, you probably posted the exact list I was adding up in my head on my way home from work this morning.

That's a BA list I may have to try out.

Thanks!

Is that right?

Shouldn't it be 12" (jump) + d6" (run) + 12" (jump) + 6" (assault) = 31-36"?

Good lists and I have run these configurations. Biggest problems used to be and probably still will be hunting down some skimmers. The good thing about 5th is if thier moving all out running from you they can't shoot which make the all jump infantry list powerfull.

@Lemartes:

Yep skimmers are a pain. At least you can run after them now, right? So if they go 6" and fire at you, you can still assault them which is a risk.

However I must say with the nerf to firing at cruising speed, even Dark Eldar have a hell of a time with this army. I used to be able to do flyby and massacre marines, but no more.

Having to get out to fire makes you a juicy (and usually, dead) target if you can't kill those jump packers.

Having multiple units of jumpers makes things more difficult for low KP oriented armies, they can't overwhelm all the jumpers before they hit.

How has your experience been with Nidzilla with your BA?

When are you coming down to play dangit.

Don't worry about it Alph.

It's ok to make minor mistakes. lol

I have completely destroyed Nidzilla a couple of time now. DC and Lemartes get into them in multiple combats and it's all over. I usually have to be patient and hide long enough to shoot down the majority of thier stealers then based on objectives move everything in in the final few rounds. Dante is my new sub in over Mephiston these days as he gives everthing within 12 preferred. I am also building a cheap honor gaurd for him with 1 fist, 1 melta, and the company banner for rerollable morale tests within 12. I forsee BA being tier one again. A couple of others that I think will rise are Black Templars, Stealer shock, 3 Landraider Khorne armies, and Aspect heavy builds using 2 Scorps in wave serpents and 1 unit of Harlequins. I think GW went to far from shooting to assault being king again. I thought it would be balanced but after playtesting the new rules good assault armies are were it's at.

Hmmm you like the scorps why? More durable?

Brotherhood of Blood

More durable more attacks and that exarch S6 fist with extra attacks are not half bad. High initiative and with always being able to infiltrate and fleet/move thru cover you get one turn to shoot at them before assaults. Karandas just became a whole new level of Badness BTW. The s6 fist against rear armor on most tanks really puts most armor in threat range also.

Hmmm I guess I gotta see it in person. The randomness and T3 marines doesn't make me quiver.

So uhh...when ya comin back down, eh?

I need a good CC army to test my DH on.

The problem with 3 Land Raider Khorne armies is that they can only cram 10 'zerkers in a raider, for almost as many points as loyalists that can take 15 marines in an LRC.

Plus, since they are so hitty in assault, they will brutalize just about everything they assault, leaving them to be freely rapid fired to death in the following turn.

And don't forget, (And back on topic) the VAS have an extra attack over the troops for only 10 points more!

Ahem. I've seen an Angels list on this same theme be reduced to half a dozen models by a standard Tau army. Could've used cover better, but it really is quite possible.

In a single turn, Arctik?

You only get one turn before they assault you.

Not saying it isn't possible, just saying it's unlikely.

I think a similar list can be done with Templars. The problem is you only have 30 marines and assorted characters with packs. I guess backing it up with crusader squads would be the way to go.

Okay, it was Tau backed up in a table corner - not sure of game, but it was table quarters. Tau got two GOOD rounds of shooting in, admittedly... But someone had to ask.

That's spearhead.

You start about 36-42" away, but there's only so far you can sit in the corner. And that Tau army loses in the other 2 missions, so it doesn't seem like a great "yeahaw" should be shouted just yet. lol
