The codex states they are treated as "a ranged poison attack".

The rule book states (in the assault weapons section) that poisoned attacks must reroll to wound (in hand-to-hand) if the attacker's strength is equal to or greater than the target's toughness.

So, do you reroll to wound for the necrotic missiles?

Sorry to be a noob here, but what are "Necrotic Missiles"? What Codex?

Necrotic missiles are basically plague-filled nurglings used as grenades by The Plaguefather Ku'gath (Chaos Deamons Codex).

I'd say the intention is that you would never reroll as the weapon has no strength value.

By RAW you could argue that you use Ku'gath's strength as a base though meaning you would re-roll against Toughness 5 or lower.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"...

To add to this - what are Necrotic Missiles supposed to do to vehicles? Anything at all?

That is a good question Polare. It doesn't specifically say anything about vehicles.

However, it is an ordinance weapon. Which begs the question, why call it an ordinance weapon? How does that change anything? As far as I can tell ordinance weapons are treated exactly as blast weapons except they get bonuses against vehicles and they require the fire to be stationary. But that is irrelevant since Ku'Gath is SnP. So, why call it a large blast, ordinance?

Similarly, why call it a ranged poisoned attack, if it doesn't get any benefit from the poisoned attack rules? I've heard the argument that its called a poisoned attack so you know it wounds on 4+ regardless of the target's toughness, but it already says that in the codex. So, again, why call it a ranged poisoned attack???
