Do you get the extra +1 to armor penetration rolls for tank hunters vs. Monoliths?

Does Combining Fire Prism fire against a Monolith have any effect (ie, do they get the +1 strength and AP1).

Neither wold involve additional armor penetration dice or decrease the target's armor value. However, the last sentence of the Monolith rule is 'in practice, any weapon attacking the Monolith will roll for penetration using its unaugmented strength and a single d6 no matter what'. So, do Tank Hunters and Fire Prism combined fire count as 'augmented'.....

Thanks.

Sounds like the strength was changed to me. I know at one point it was FAQed that you didn't get the +1 for Tankhunters. I don't know if that is still the case.

My Two Cents:

If a weapon with Strength "X" hits the Monolith at anything other than "X" then the Strength has been augmented.

Until they say it doesn't, you add anything that isn't a straight D6.

By my reading, the weapon's strength is augmented by the second prism. I originally thought this was only a line in the old FAQ, but apparently it has been added to the second printing without being added to the v5 FAQ for suckers like myself with the first print.

As the eldar player, I'd just suck it up and fire two str 9 shots at it instead.

But that's just it, the revised Necron Codex ( as pointed out above ) states you use a weapon's unaugmented strength - this as well as the single d6 and no armor reducers.

Meh. I can see both sides of this argument.

Problem for me is, there really aren't any other units like the Prism in the game. It should be clearly stated what it is doing in relation to the monolith.

If you post it in the combined FAQ question thread at the top, hopefully it will get answered.

melta guns DO get the +1 on the damage chart.. that is outside the scope of living metal

the necron faq says that fists and such do double strength.

but things like MC and dreadnoughts do NOT get 2d6 penetration, neither to melta weapons

and lance weapons have no effect on its armor value

This was already placed in the FAQ's of 4th Edition. The answer is NO you dont get the +1 to tankhunter, Im not sure about the fire prism but Im leaning towards no under the same precedence.

I think this was either in the Necron or SM FAQs it was in one of them, I know I hated playing necrons with my SM because of it.

FAQs for 4th edition have no standing, and the +1 is for "effect" under a new system and is not for "strength".

Regardless of if 4th edition FAQ matter, you still dont get the Tank Hunter ability bonus against a monolith. Nothing in 5th changed in this so please dont bother trying to rehash it.

Livining Metal and Tank Hunter skills both didnt change so at a minimum 4th Edition FAQ is precedence.
