I, like most, was very happy to see Alpha, Gamma, and Omega rule sets removed from the BGB’s standard missions. I was also pleased that the reserves special rule is used in every standard mission presented. I think that it’s folly to rely on these rules getting the same treatment at a Gameday or GT. I just don’t trust GW that much. That being said, I’m still bring my 3 drop Vets to games.
There was a phrase in the newly posted WH faqs that really got me scared about the truth. When it talked about the Liber Heritus(pardon the spelling) and how it doesn’t work with the standard book mission, but it’ll still work in missions that are “ written by tournament organizers for use in their events.”
I may be paranoid, I may have a valid thought here. I honestly don’t know. What do you think? Even more helpful, What have you seen in you 5th ed competitions, Esp. those run by GW?
Oh, and I have similar concerns about VPs and Random game length. It’s all fine and dandy to not use them in friendly games. But with the amount of ties and potential ties I’ve seen in 5th, is a simple objective system enough? Or will it be the same objectives for VPs? And, when was the last time you’ve seen GW write a random game length mission? I think I’ve seen 3 or 4 out of 20.

You live in the US right?
Don't worry then. I've talked to Dave Taylor and they will be using all 5th edition scenarios in the GTs this year.
So bring your Vets, you'll be fine.
As for your local RTTs, that's another story.

Wow, that's service! Thanks for... umm talking to him for me.(Seriously, thank you for the info) That's good news to hear. But it also means I shouldn't bring the Sister's book. :p I'm still interested if there are any competition stories of how the new rules are changing the senarios.

I gotta say I was pretty shocked to see yak credited on those recent FAQs - it's almost like they've started listening to their customers. Quite eerie, actually.

The apocalypse is nigh. Start stockpiling bottled water, canned goods, and bolter ammunition.
