It has been revamped a little due to 5th, such as the removal of my IH’s and BASS’s since the RH’s submunition is the new IH.
If you are curious about the name, well it spawned from my games with Godzilla lists and how they devastated their opponent due to shear volume of dice than quality of shots. I took that idea tried to apply it my Tau cadre and it has worked very well. Each TADRain squad is its own little Dakka Fex variant.

Cheers!

How is this a mechzilla list?

You have 3 tanks.

Not 10.

list looks good imo. i have thought about something similar with the tl missile pods. One question though, don't your HQ suits need to fill 3 hard points? I count only 2 with the missile pods.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Tau Empire Codex have a little "1+" Indicator next to the Fire Warrior Entry?

In other words, you need a minimum of one Fire Warrior Squad. Might want to check on that.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

This list is probably closer to Mobile Infantry (MI) than a total Mech Tau list, but it meets the requirements to be called a Mechanized list.
As for the "Zilla" part, I explained that in the first post, because I knew the name would arouse some curiosity.

If you take another look there is a bonding knife. If I could I would chose not to take that 3rd hard point, but alas.

Yes, you are correct CK, but you might want to check my list again.

Hmmm. I find it amusing. I called my mech tau list Mechzilla, because it was very hard to stop.

This list of yours is easy to stop, especially in 5th. Do you have terrain that lets you hide 15 crisis suits on the board? Then you aren't playing the 40k everyone else is.

Deathrains are not by any stretch of the imagination like dakkafexes, sadly.

Why you need BS4 twin-linked missile pods is beyond me. I've always considered that a fail as far as crisis suit configurations go.

@Stelek

On the contrary it is not easy to stop, just for the same reason that when a dakka fex walks by and 5 SM's are dead. Every list is dependent on the terrain and mission, but over all it fairs very well.

5th did knock this list and in general most tau lists in the face with a sledge hammer when it comes to hiding our suits, but so far I haven’t had too much trouble.

As for the terrain we use 2 forests, 2 ruined buildings, 2 intact buildings, and odd ball fences and bushes to negate those kill zones. Surprisingly I do not have that much trouble hiding my suits, but of course they are never fully covered since area terrain doesn’t function like it used to in 5th.

A Crisis suit and a Fex are not similar on stats, but causing your opponent role a fist full of dice, yes.

I do not understand your last sentence, but I have tried BS3 TLMP's and there are a lot of misses as opposed to BS4. Anything to make Tau shoot better is plus in my book.

Right. I use markerlights to get to hit things better.

I meant they aren't the same as:

Light weapons fire kills you.
You run away.

That's all.

I think you'll find once you play certain army builds, that you need plasma and missiles to stop everyone. Markerlights are invaluable in 5th. You have none.

Not sure how you are hiding 15 crisis suits, but if you are playing alot of static shooting lists I can see how you'd be able to hide...but if playing mobile armies, or pretty much any army with a deep strike/infiltrate/scout theme...you are in a world of trouble.

I'm not sure why you have so many kroot squads, since getting rid of them is easy enough. Even in woods, even pinning yourself. Soon enough, every army that can have flamers and meltas...will have them. That spells doom for armies like this one.
