Ok, according to the dex, bosspole allows player to re-roll the squads failed leadership test. However, as far as I remember, if a huge ork boyz squad lose combat, which at that time, they wouldn't be fearless anymore... that will instantly put them into below half strength.

I usually take 25man to 30man shootas. If they ended up running away from combat, and (hopefully) they managed to win the initiative test for sweeping advance, they will be at 9 or 10 man strong. Wouldn't that be below half strength? and if they ran away from that combat, they can't regroup because the rulebook says that unit below 50% can't regroup. So, I assume that bosspole only worth that one moment then.... am i right so far or no?

If I'm right, then should it even worth ANYTHING at all to take that bosspole for big boyz squads?

thanks for any replies... I just gave this a huge thought...

The best thing that you can know about yourself is that you finally realized that you're good at something. For knowing that: Priceless. Anything else, just kill yourself.

I wouldn't put it on large squads. At 11 or above your fearless, no chance of wipe out. At less than that you have already chewed through 20 odd boys, hopefully that squad has already accomplished what it was set out to do.

A lot of people take them
Its a few more points that may save half the squad's pts and its scoring ability.
Generally orcs will lose combat by a little bit against powerful assault squads. The boss pole gives you another turn or two to swing with the claw.
At least that is how it worked in 4th.
In 5th if someone beat you down to that lvl in combat your screwed and if they shoot you down that far they can probably finish you off. not as good in 5th.

A 5 point upgrade that can keep your troop unit scoring. A 5 point upgrade that can keep your squad from giving up a KP. A 5 point upgrade that can buy you another round of close combat.

It makes my 245 point boyz squad a 250 point boyz squad. Just think of it as cheap insurance.

seems worth it to me for any unit with individually cheap models (i.e. you don't mind taking a wound on one). Unfortunately that risk makes it too expensive for units like bikers which would otherwise actually benefit from a bosspole

that extra chance to pass the test is worth 5 pts if you've got them to spare and are not compromising something more critical elsewhere in the list.
