ok wait, it just messed up my whole topic.

edit: look at my merc kill-team w.i.p here

http://s11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=1685

and the first painted ones here

http://s11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=1725

I'm going for a special forces look but still keeping in with 40k.

It's not my best work but damn fun to do!

comments & criticisms welcome.

Very nice to see the support guy painted!

I dug this out after looking at my files for cool spec-op-IG and "darkchild" folder came up and there were no pics of painted miniatures.

Schweet! Those are some kick arse 'mercs. Fab conversions and I dig your naturalistic paint jobs. Good un on the camo too,
it's a real pain in the arse to get right. Get those bases done up! I'd look to using a mix of ballast/sand/stones than the
somewhat more uniform stuff you've used on the last one (which I realize is still WIP). Good stuff and kudos to ya.

still think they're awesome. Well done. Like the sniper the best (though the guy with the shotgun is pretty cool, too)

nice to see some painted stuff, DC.

its also nice to see someone lauding the name of killteam besides myself and yair.

I think they are quite good.

I dont know if those chopped lasguns count as lasguns, but I did a similar thing to make them into shotguns.

I know they arent the best weapons, but at least you can assault with them after shooting. Not a big deal in normal 40k, but it aint to shabby in killteam.

Awesome. What I like about your stuff DC, is it could easily port over to other game systems. It's not too 40Kcentric even though it's obviously Imperial Guard. And I'm all about using GW minis for non-GW games and vise versa.

thanks for the comments guys.  The bases are wip but it will probably take me forever to improve them (if at all) because i absolutely despise basing minis.  The cut-down lasguns count as bolters because the kill-team counts as a marine scout squad as opposed to an imperial guard unit.  I wanted a more special forces feel to them and i thought that guard just don't cut it.  I now plan to do an entire "marine scout" army with gun jeeps representing landspeeders, crazy robot things for dreadnoughts and whatnot.  It's gonna be wild.

Great stuff! Thanks for posting the rest of them. I'm glad I dug the thread out

And do the basing first, then build the minis on them! More realistic and leads to cooler poses and makes basing less of a chore. I LOVE making bases - they bring the figs to life.
