A couple of weeks ago I read something about using conscripts as cover. During the movement have them 'dance' off to one side then once the the shooting is done run back to act as cover again. Now this didn't look that great of an idea but I filed it in the back of my mind. Then yesterday I discovered some ballarina models that are about the right size for 40k as I was looking through a dollar store. The idea of dancing conscripts came back to mind. Since the packs were something like 20 for 5 bucks I grab the three that were there and began converting but now I need a list to fit the idea.

Here's what I've come up with so far.

Command Platoon
Command Squad, Junior Officer with Honorifica Imperialis, 4xMeltaguns, Camoline, Light Infantry 125
Fire Support Squad, 3xHeavy Bolters, Camoline, Sharpshooter 100

30xConsptript Platoon, 3xFlamers, Camoline, Light Infantry 155

Leman Russ 3xHeavy Bolters 155

So thoughts? Ideas to improve the theeme? Am I craze or simply bored?

You desperately need a Nureyev, Dalgushin, or Baryshnikov model to act as commander. Perhaps as Albrecht from Giselle, Act II... with the big fun cape. But where to find that, and which costume to use. If you wanted to really go crazy on the theme, throw in some spellcasting ballet villians as psykers, Madge, Mytha, and Carabosse come to mind. Any of the characters from Le Corsaire are already supposed to have swords and pistols so...

I can't think of anything I have ever seen on stage that could remotely be connected to a Leman Russ battle tank though. If you want the theme to spill over there, you'll have to get really creative.

Make sure to post pictures of lasgun toting ballerinas when you've converted a couple. I need to see that.

Aren't Conscripts excluded from the Guard infantry definition in the Doctrines section? It would be very interesting if you could give them Cameleoline and Light Infantry, but I believe that is excluded. You might also want to double check the point cost on Special weapons in the Conscript squads.

Iron Discipline is a very good and very necessary doctrine. With comparatively few shooting units, the ability to rally them if they run away is critical.

I would also consider how combat resolution and leadership works with your Conscripts. I am unsold on Conscripts in the current 5E edition. You will loose close combats, and when that happens, you will die, badly. Gaunt seems a necessity if you want to use them.

Given the change in cover and the addition of Defenders React, Close Order Drill is another doctrine to consider. It lets your Conscripts fight before or at the same time as most enemies they encounter on the battlefield.
