Just wondering if anyone's going to be there? I haven't found any 40K events, but they do have a Fantasy tournament. I'll be there running games for kids: Clay-o-Rama (the ultimate in tabletop miniatures battles! ), Heroscape, board and card games, and generally anything fun and easy. However, I do want to get some time for "grown up" games as well and was hoping for someone to show me the ropes in the new 5th edition. I'll bring some minis and will be there Saturday and Sunday. Shout out if you'll be there!

[UPDATE]
This event turned out to be pretty nice, more anime/scifi than gaming, although there was a RTT and a Fantasy tournament held. One of the entrants had a great completely old school Necron army made from the first release of the necron warriors, immortals, and "jetbike" destroyers, with a converted destroyer lord. good work Joe! Unfortunately, I didn't stick around to find out who won, but as soon as I know, I'll post it here.

I took Best Overall for my Reaper fantasy miniature "Thomas Bronwyn", the priest at my Painting and Modelling post, and placed 2nd for the squad of Fire Dragons. Admittedly, there wasn't much competition to go up against, but there were some great entries - a DA Chaplain, DA Dreadnought, and a squad of (pre-heresy Emp. Children? purple w/ black accents?) Marines in diorama (that my dragons were up against) that were beautifully converted and painted as well as a nicely converted ork warwagon.

The Heroscape game was complete win though, and while many here think it's too much luck driven, I think it's a great way to get the youngins' started in miniature strategy games. We had an 8-man, 4-team free-for-all with a bunch of local kids that thoroughly enjoyed it and since we were close to the RTT, they got to learn a bit about 40K as well. I fielded answers to their questions and I think they were hooked: some liked the painting aspect, some liked the "big game" aspect (HS is all about small-squads/tactics), and some didn't like it at all, but still watched in morbid fascination. I'll convert them yet!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
