i have gotten the room i wanted to put a game table in finished.
it is a little small to have a 6 foot by 4 foot up all the time, so i was wanting to get either a 4 foot by 4 foot up with 2 folding section that were 1 foot by 4 foot. OR 3 folding tables from wal-mart that were 4 foot by 2 foot.
the main problems i am having, is that i am not that skilled when it comes to wood working (i can do most things if there are directions, but not to good making stuff up myself). and the 3 tabels from wal mart would be over $150.
anyone know of a cheaper solution to this??

A heavy duty card table and a piece of plywood?
Put a 4x6 piece of foam on top & that's your playing surface.

Folding table.
Lumberyard: 8'x4'x2" piece of pink or blue foam. Cut to 6'x4'. Tape the edges with wide masking tape, making sure it goes over each corner and overlaps 1/2" onto each surface. Wood glue, sand, paint, drybrush.
End result is a lightweight yet very tough gaming table that's easy to take off the folding table and put against a wall. You could cut it down to 2 sections as well, but it makes for less stability.

To be honest, $150 doesn't sound that expensive to me. I recently built a 4'X6' gaming table and after painting and all that it costs about roughly about $150 (a little over $100 for the wood, then paint, nails, sand paper, some metal brackets for support, gorilla glue).

You can buy a sheet of plywood very cheaply and have whatever store you buy it from (Home Depot, Lumber Yard, etc.) cut it to size for a very small fee. A 6x4 piece of plywood placed atop a cheap folding table (you could probably find one at a goodwill or other thrift store) makes a decent playing surface.
Of course it would be better to reinforce the play with strips of wood as well and then flock or make a foam top, but not strictly necessary at the beginning.

when we built our gaming table (6'x8') all we used was bit of wood we had lying around, a tape measue, a spirit-level and some screws. the wood doenst have to be that thick. you can put supports underneath it to prop it up. 1/2" thick plywood or mdf would probably do. for the surface. we managed to find a couple of old wooden screens for ours that we nailed together then covered in a thin player of ply to close up the gaps. it works quite well, and its nice to have such a big table to play apocalypse on.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |
