Here's the situation. Lets say that an IG Infantry Platoon Command Squad is whittled down to just the Junior Officer (who now reverts to an Independent Character). The Junior Officer then joins a unit of Ogryn or Veterans (or any other non-Troops unit). I would assume that the Junior Officer would remain a scoring unit, but would the non-Troops squad being within 3" of the objective be good enough, or would the Junior Officer himself have to be within 3"? Personally I think he would, but I would like to here some opinions on the matter.

I doubt there is really anything in the rulebook to provide a solid answer either way. FAQ, anyone?

I think the model himself would need to be within 3" of the objective by the RAW and I can't think of an argument for why that wouldn't be the case.

It's definitely a good question for the IG FAQ.

Yes, I saw this question on another forum (giving credit where credit is due) and thought I'd see what kind of a response it would get here

I would say Yak and Ghaz had the right of it. Unusual situation though, I doubt the GW though (or will ever think) of it to clarify.

Wel, since GW is taking submissions for the FAQs hopefully it will be answered.

I think that if they bother to read the submissions, that they'll answer it, but not specifically for IG, as this is more of a 'general' question. Quite a few armies hace characters that recieve IC status when the unit they're with is killed off, though not many have them as troops. Even so, this question can be reversed: "Would a SM commander be sufficient to count as scoring if he is joined to a tactical squad, but he is the only model in the unit within 3"of an objective?"

I think the real question here is: "Does a single scoring model confer scoring status to another unit it joins, and vice-versa? If not, does it lose it's scoring status? If neither of these conditions apply, how do you resolve how it scores?"

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.
