Subject: Autarch w/ Farseer instead of Jetlocks?
|

Defending Guardian Defender

I am curious does anyone ever take an autarch on a jetbike and run him with the farseer? Autarch has 6 strength 6 power weapon attacks on the charge equal to 3 spear locks or 3 witchblade locks after the first round of CC and he costs less than 3 jetbike warlocks and he has a fusion gun, only thing I see you're missing out on is the extra shuriken catapults and warlock powers, however enhance is not needed and embolden well yeh I'd miss it but not a huge deal.
Oh yeh I forgot, you get plasma grenades!

A Jetbike Council accompanied by an Autarch is a scary unit. About 6 Warlocks are needed for enough ablative wounds. Give the Warlocks enhance and embolden (2 times if you have the points due to the new wound allocation).

what...no, I meant a Farseer with an Autarch...an Autarch can't join a Seer Council I thought (2 IC's)

He can join a Seer Council. The new IC rules allow the enemy to target an IC no matter what.

Without Council its not even worth the thought.
You could go for a Farseer with fortune and spear, Autarch with fusion gun and power weapon, and 6 Warlocks with 2x embolden and 2x enhance.
This could be one main component of your army. Don't make it too small. Ablative wounds are a must-have.

Interesting to hear. I've been building the Bike Council and have been debating adding the Autarch. The downside is the overall cost, exactly what the OP is trying to avoid. The upside is the extra assurance to win an assault with the extra S6 power weapon attacks.
Regarding the original post: can an IC join another IC to form a unit?
|
No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

No, the rule says that an IC can join another unit which consists of more than one model.

IC's can join IC's. It says so right at the top of page 48.
An Autarch does not really help a Seer Council, because he is a hammer unit and the council is an anvil unit. After round 1, he's still there doing nothing but waiting for a power fist.
I ran a Shining Spear + Autarch squad to help my Seer Council.
Then I ran two seer councils.
They are take-all-comers and the autarch and spears are not.

I don't get it Stelek, seems like you took all of the all comers units...so is there no chance for anyone except to copy to your list?? Or do you recommend any other units you don't use?

Well they can benefit from my experience, or take stuff that won't win. There are lots of ways to run Eldar, but if you want to run Jetbike Eldar...I hope they copy my list, else they won't have a take-all-comers Jetbike list. They'll have a take-some-lose-some list.
