Here's my effort, only lightly converted, a chimera with custom turret, guns, gun mount and stowage.

You my good fellow made me wet myself, this thing looks awesome. How did you make the turret ?
Now while I wait for a reply, I shall go change my pants

That turret is made by Old Crow Models, I have one I got with their excellent tac missile turret (for a Manticore). I didn't exactly know what to DO with it but now that I see it that does look an awful lot like Forgeworld's Artemia pattern Hellhound...

Very cool no matter what you use it as!
For non-tournament games it sometimes will be a Cmd Salamander. The Scanner and Orders do make it worth the risk from Open Topped.

Agreed. The landspeeder was getting left in the box every game so thought I'd make it an attack bike/buggy. Is completely legal and looks good on the table. The only downside is that it's slightly bigger than the attack bike model. BUT .. at least it gets used now.

and it could count as a speeder.

how about a raptors sucessor?
maybe a name to do with reptiles/dinosaurs...

The Velociraptors???

Too Obvious???

I'll return to the corner from whence i came

Amusing. I thought Raptors were Chaos. I guess we learn something new every day. I'll think on this .. and do some more research on the Raptors.

Some of the images I saw have very similar paintjobs to my marines. Sweet.

Also, remembered this from my childhood. It might make a sweet chapter icon for a Raptor's successor chapter.

Cheers for the heads up.

I thought when I saw the pic that you were suggesting thundercats as a chapter name, then I read your post and thought "that would make a good chapter symbol."

I like that buggy. Those guys are almost exactly the same scheme as my marines, only mine have black shoulder guard trims (I am no good at photography, the colour is much more camo than in this picture, it looks like your main colour):

Since you said you had no idea what to call them or what symbol to use, feel free to do the same as me: they are called the Vindicators, have a red templar cross as their symbol, and they are DA successors, but don't hunt the fallen, ie follow standard codex organisation without raven- or deathwing. Would kinda be fun to be working on a DIY together. Mine are a mix of no-nonsense pragmatism and heraldic stuff, though, not sure whether that fits your idea.

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

I like the idea of linking armies together through the webway, AKA internet. I vote you join up, share fluff and share battle reps, that'd be awesome.

Here's a little something to hold you guys over until i get to my camera:

the orks' answer to the storm raven, this is an early pic of Da Surly Burd. i decided to eschew the tail, and it is now covered in armor plates, and it has doors, an engine above the wings, and a fin on top of the engine. i am thinking of using some space marine backpacks to the wings, etc (thanks for the awesome idea, monkeytroll!).

btw, i am also working on a diorama of Don Quixote, a book from Spain during the Renaissance; i am doing the part where he jousts with the windmills (though i am only at chapter two, i have still heard of this part.) i will post that when i get to my camera, too.
