ok.
so deamon hunters and black templars can very easily put a few land raiders on the table.
the black templars can get 6. with a 2 bare bones troop squads, an emperos champion with the cheepest vow, the cheepest HQ (i think there are enough points to give him some toys) and a few allied Inqusitors.
my thoughts on this would be to hide everything in the landraiders to deny easy kill points. then pop out on last turn, charge with BP and CCW squads to scare things off of OBJ's.... or, if you can, stay in the land raiders (or tanks shock / ram with them) and use the scoring status of the marines inside for the OBJ grabbin.
one land raider draws a lot of fire. 2 is enough to make most people what to spend most of thier shooting on zapping them.......... but SIX is enough to make my tau crap thier pants and wish they had more broadsides on the table.
i am just not sold on the tactical side of things. yes you have 6 AV 14 land raiders. but that is all you have on the table top (everyone is inside them). i think that most armies would be able to take one, if not 2 down a turn. since every single gun with S 8 and up will be going full blown at them, and the other guys will run to grab quarters or other OBJS. or get close enough to use EMP, Haywaire, or Melta bombs (or melta guns for that matter) on them.
and losing even one of those landraiders hurts bad.
i think that with power of the machine spirit you can move 6 inches and fire both lascannons, and a pinlet mounted storm bolter (S4)
or move 12 and fire 1 lascannon and storm bolter???
i think that it will scare the pants off of most people at first. but when you are done firing at most all 12 lascannons (6 of which would need 5's to hit) and 24 storm bolter shots. the effect will start to ware off.

Sorry - no Daemonhunters book to hand at the moment, but can you take a LandRaider as a transport for an Inquisitor??
Or is it only Grey Knight Units?

Daemonhunter Inquisitor Lords & Elites that have retinues can take a LR as a dedicated transport. Then the DH can take 3 as HS choices - so a total of 7 are possible.
If you're going to do this, you need at least a couple Land Raider Crusaders to thin horde armies, and a few guys inside with flamers to clear out the riff-raff and/or DS units.

In fact, Chaos armies with lots of Obliterators (obsure and fire fight vs Obliterators), DE armies with dark matter spam (BT can have AV 14 vs dark lances), and horde armies can be a problem (LRCs please).

=I= are required to take at least one henchman before they can take a transport, since LRs are only an option for the Inquisitor's Retinue.
GK in fact never get transports, although at least one Grey Knight infantryman must be purchased before DH can access vehicles crewed by GK. (add daemon packs to wuestenfex's list of problems, unless you are an ambitious rules lawyer comfortable with exploiting the pre-FAQ grey area (ho ho) about how there is technically no longer such a thing as a Daemon pack.)

isent the LRC a bit more expensive then the regular land raider???
6 land raiders is 1500 points. two 5 man marine squads are 150 points. add in the INQ's with one henchmen, the emperors champion, and a captian. and you dont have much left at 1850.
i think i forgot to mention this is 1850 list. at 2k sure you could make a few into LRC.
