Hey all. I am a 40K newcomer. I put together a 500 point army to learn the game. I did very well my first two battles at my local GW store. I won both with the 500 point version of the army beating Space Marines both times. The second victory was an annilihation with just his Librarian remaining.

I've nerver fought anything over a 500 point battle yet and I'd like to know what you guys think about what I'm doing and if you have any advice on how to change it for the better.

Not a bad growth plan. I'd add a heavy weapons to all troop squads but the Armored Fist. I'd also look at getting a unit of Autocannons x3 or Heavy Bolters x3.

The Hellhound is the hot tank now, so to speak. I'd find a way to put a couple of them in there, or a Basilisk, so that you get even more template weapons.

There is a place beneath those ancient ruins in the moor…

I would dump the Ratling snipers. This lets you take Hardened Vets, which can be an incredibly versatile squad, allowing plasma or meltaguns, letting them take out anything in armor, monstrous creatures, or vehicles. With the Hardened Vets and Drop Troop doctrines, you'll find a lot more battlefield utility.

Everyone keeps telling me to dump the snipers.......guess it's time to move them to the empty bottom tray of the case.

Would I mount the hardened Vet's in a Chimera or use the Infiltrate with them?

I kind of liked the idea of more beefy troops so I took Stormtroopers in a Chimera to use with my 2 Armored Fist units. What models would you suggest to make them differant? I'm already using the Karskin for my Stormtoopers and Steel Legion for my Armored Fist units. My army colors are non traditional guard.

Thank for the replies. I've been killing myself trying out differant army lists in my mind.
