Why would you want to put a powerfist on a chaplain when it already has a power weapon(Crozius Arcanum)?

So he can kill tanks and MC is usually the reason, but so he wounds almost everything on 2+ is another.

It was a better build in 4E when you got +1 attack for it, but it's not terrible in 5E just a little less potent.

Ummm...Dakka isn't really a rumor site. Most of the other big boards are. Search around, you'll see.

Er, Powerfist attack reduction isn't in the 5e SM codex, it's a basic rule for all of 5e 40k.

What Stelek is saying is that the reason you'd give a Chaplain a fist is the same as with any other model; so he can slap the crap out of T8 models and instant death anything T4 or lower.

Since fists get 1 fewer attack in the new codex, it is probably better to stick with the Crozius, but regardless of loadout a chaplain is a scary guy.

Forever alone

Does this mean that other commanders such as Chaos Lords should have powerfists as well?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Chaos lords should have daemon weapons. If you aren't giving the Lord one, you are doing it wrong.

Why are you taking Chaplains in 5th ed SM anyway. They have WS4/I4/W2/A2. They are useless. Yay for Templar Chaps and their win. Boo to SM chaps and their insane amounts of fail.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

A2 is g a k. Stick with Bolt Pistols IMO.

No new Chappy or Libby models, rules nerf? Conspiracy anyone?

... but I bet you can buy Terminator honours should you choose. Or not.

Chaplains are very situational.

I prefer Librarians myself.

Chaos Lords are good like 1% of the time.

Instant death + Lord/Sorc for Chaos = Loss.

you could give him a combi-melta now - with the reduction of the PF - having a melta-gun shot at BS5 might have better results against tanks and T4 critters - not so much against MC's though - 1 wound is all youll get.

I prefer combi-plas on a terminator, and combi-flamer on a flyer.

If you go into a MC, you better kill them or else you're going to get smushed...and firing at a tank, if you are with a squad what's the squad doing? If you are by yourself, aren't you about to get melta'd?

Best to avoid the meltagun and the temptation it brings, I think.

I didnt recommend a combi-plasma because of its rapid fire status. The flamer though is gold on a flyer, agreed. Your counter-points are situational - hopefully I have enough situational awareness not to put my IC in location to get melta'd when taking a pot shot at a tank. As far as what's the squad doing? Theyre taking a pot shot with a melta - as well as the PF, combi-melta armed Vet SGT.

I want my chaplain to have a jump pack so he can be added to my assault marines, the reroll failed hits is beautiful....unless 5ed changes that
