Okay so recently I built and modeled my first Rhino but my modeling skills are not that great and I have a nurgle army and was wondering if anyone had some tips on modeling for a nurgle army.

-Thanks in advance

Only to take your time and NOT try and rush things. Use the rubber bands and clothes pegs when extra hands are required.

A great majority of modelling issues arise because of impatience. I have assembled 10 of the new rhino hulls (all of my preds, vindicators, whirlwinds and razorbacks use this hull. ) and I don't rush the job.

If it takes 3 or 4 days to finish the assembly, then that's how long it takes. That said, it's also not uncommon for me to do several kits at the same time. The last two were a Land Raider and a Rhino (conversion/swappability to make a whirlwind, Heavy Bolter Razorback, Regular Land Raider and Land Raider Helios from two vehicle kits).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

At least with Nurgle, the odd mistake can become part of the model. A chassis top askew is a chassis top that is sunken or peeling off with decay and lack of maintenance..

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Green stuff is your friend. I buy mine in a large tube from Niel at the warstore.

Take a look at this GW article: http://oz.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spacemarines/painting/damaged_armor/default.htm

It'll help with modeling pocks and other damage that a nurgle rhino has been exposed to throughout its centuries of service.

I'd also look at the army profile articles & painting and modeling sections here as well, for inspiration.

I would use cheap play dough, and stick them on there, and simply paint over them, it looks like veins or vines or whatever, i thing they look great though. But the key is to get the whole 'rotting' look to it.

I will upload pictures of this later but what I did was take a melon baller and stretched out the sides of the green stuff making it look somewhat like a web and then went out and bought a package of combs and took the points of the comb and dabbed the inside of the web and stretched it over the tank....I had a friend who I asked to help and what he did was roll the green stuff into a ball flatten it a little and took some type of skewer and rolled little holes in the green stuff. After we did this we got some type of plague effect.

Problem is that play-do doesnt dry, and it wont stick. Do this and after a day or so, it will fall off leaving large, unpainted chunks of tank. Theres a reason that Modelling putty was created, and a reason that you don't see play-dough all over peoples models.

Blinky, did you ever play with play-dough as a kid?
Leave it out in the air and it most definitely dries...

The problems with using play-dough, though, are:

1) It tends to crack as it dries
2) It won't adhere well to the model without gluing it after it dries
3) It's fairly brittle and would easily crumble during typical game play.

So, I agree with you that modelling putty is a far better option, just not the part about play-dough not drying.

Not to mention transport of the models, the cracking might be somewhat nice (to a Nurgle plagued Rhino at least)

Use greenstuff to model living flesh with sores in it, and put lots of rotting corpses impaled on the dozer blade (use fantasy zombie models)

...And dont worry if you make any mistakes modelling it... it will look more nurglesque.
