So I'm playing around with Codex: Powderpuff. By the Authority of the Immortal Emperor of Mankind let's my Guard army pull in one HQ, Elite, 2 Troops, and some other stuff. So I'm looking at the Adepta Heroine. 45 point IC. There's an option for her retinue, that lets me take a Celestian Squad of 1 Sister Superior and 4-9 Celestians, but as a retinue it will be part of the same Force Org Chart. Now I turn to Celestians, and under transports, it says 'Celestians may be mounted in an Immolator for +65 points'.

So... to me, when I read this, because of the way these options chain together, I can get:

1 Sororitas Heroine (45 pts)
1 Sister Superior +8 Celestians retinue (117 pts)
1 Immolator "transport" (65 pts)

...as a single HQ FoC option.

Now, I could see someone arguing that I am not taking Celestians, I am taking a Heroine Retinue (which does not mention transports) and therefore can't "unlock" the immolator, but the Celestians + Heroine combo for 1 slot choice seems about as clear-cut as it can get.

Anyone think differently?

You get the Immolator too. The Celestian retinue has all the options an elite Celestian unit has. The heroine, her retinue, and their ride are all one HQ choice.

However, the rule says that "[i]f the squad numbers six models or less it may be mounted in an Immolator..." Bad grammar aside (it should say "fewer" instead of "less"), this means that a unit of nine Celestians cannot take an Immolator.

Don't know how I glazed over that bit. Shouldn't read a codex while driving, I guess.

Heh. In that situation, I'd say that misreading something in your codex is by far the least serious mistake that could result.

Agreed.
