I playtested another one of my lists that was pretty Jetbike-heavy, and was impressed by the performance of the army, but I didn't get enough chances to experiment with playing with it. I tried my hand at a Mech list, with no Jetbikes, and have come up with this:
HQ
Farseer
Doom
80
ELITES
5 Fire Dragons
Exarch
Dragon's Breath Flamer
Crack Shot
Wave Serpent w/ TL Bright Lance
232

10 Storm Guardians
2 Flamers
1 Warlock
Destructor

Pretty straightforward. Tanks are my anti-tank, Prisms blast anything out of the water, and the squads pop out and fry anything they are in range of. I could exchange one of the Fire Dragon squads for another Storm Guardian squad, but then I need 30 points somewhere.

Catch me if you can.

Two scoring units is not much. I opt for another Guardian squad, without a Warlock it should be fine. In competitive play, the Farseer should have runes of warding.

Do you really need 3 squads of Fire Dragons + 3 BL serpents?

That's some kind of paranoia (having enough anti-tank). How about horde Orks?

I think that is where your extra points could come from; drop a unit of Dragons for another scoring unit. Two units can become very difficult to win with, especially if your opponent has taken 5-6 scoring units.
Locally, Runes of Warding is nearly mandatory. Tourneys, it's likely to be an important piece of kit like wuestenfux advised.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |
