Greetings,

I am just getting into 40K. I am playing Dark Angels, focusing on the Deathwing. Here is the model I have completed so far. Any suggestions? I'm not sure what I am going to do on the base. Thanks for any advice.

Not a bad looking termie

I think some highlights on your reds, greens and the bleached bone would improve on what you have already done.

That is fantastic! That is a difficult color to do also!

Base? no idea... If I was going to do marines, I have wanted to do industrial bases. Also if you are not inspired, I can recommend pre-made resin bases. Some of them are really nice and can really make a good figure look better.

looks great. Just a little more highlights and it would look awesome. about bases you can do industrial and marines climbing over rubble and kneeling while shooting

Sweet, this is really persinal prefrence, but I like to thin my paints. Say about 4 drops of clean water. I think it looks alot more 'clean'. but its all persinal preferance.

Have you painted mini's before? If not, than you are on the right path... you seem to have some natural talent.

Very nice!

Try hitting it with the new GW washes. A single light application of Gryphon Sepia on the bone white would give you some nice depth.

Hey, thanks for all the advice. Yeah, I'm new. Never painted any models before. I did use some of the GW washes. Mainly the black and green. I'll try adding a wash over the body. Thanks again.

Well, I took a lot of the advice that was given here. My buddy sent me a Brother-Captain Stern figure. He looked so cool, I just had to try and paint him. I'm not quite done yet. But I figured I would post him here, and get some more adivce, since what you all gave me already was so helpful. I can't believe how much detail they put into this figure. I keep finding new stuff to detail. Anyway, here are the pics.

basing? i geuss it really depends what terrain you most frequently play/ what all your gaming buddies use. i use allsorts, mainly a mix of static sand and grass but when you develop a bitz box you'll have loads of interesting little items to put on the bases. hooray! :þ

Okay, I finished this model. I did some basing on him. Overall I'm pretty happy, but I was looking for some suggestions. Thanks.

OK.....does anyone else buy the "first time painting" statement??

Dude, if that is truely the case, then I guess in a couple years people will start vying for Golden Ixlars.

Heck, my first model looked like a Rorschac Test on SpacWolf Gray, with yellow distractions.

Thank you. It really is my first time painting. It took me a while to paint this figure. I had to figure out how to make the cloak look right, and work on the shading. But I sure had a lot of fun. I also got a lot of good advice here on the boards.
