Okay, so having toyed around with my units a bit I have come up with an army I like.
I am wondering though firstly should i drop the serpent for my dragons as it is the only tank in my list? or perhaps add another?

HQ
The Avatar of Khaine 155

Farseer 165
Runes of Warding, spirit stones, Doom, guide, fortune

Elites

6 Fire Dragons 96
Wave Serpent 145
Twin Linked Starcannons, vectored engines

Howling Banshees 144
10, exarch with mirror swords

Troops

10 Dire Avengers 152
Exarch with two shuriken catapults, bladestorm

5 Dire Avengers 117
Exarch with power weapon and shimmershield, bladestorm and defend

5 Pathfinders 120

5 Pathfinders 120

Heavy Support

Wraithlord 130
Brightlance, flamers

Wraithlord 140
Brightlance, flamers and wraithsword

with 16 points left for upgrades
Basically gone for a foot slogging army with enough punch to it. Was thinking
about dropping either the small unit of dire avengers or a unit of pathfinders for a unit of striking scorpion's.
Anyone have any advice on this list?

Scrap the list. Start a new one.

The Fire Dragons won't make it into range, as that Wave Serpent is your only tank.

The Howling Banshees will get torn apart before they even smell combat.

The Dire Avengers are solid, but the 5-man squad makes no sense. You gave them Bladestorm, which will give you 4 extra shots, considering they alll live (which they won't), and you also gave them Defend, which is only good for tarpitting. Considering you have 2 good CC units, which in and of themselves don't have all that much punch, and your tarpit is 5 models deep, that unit will not function in any conceivably helpful way.

You don't have enough Pathfinders to justify their existence. They don't really fit into this list.

Wraithlords are a support unit. There's really nothing for them to support here. The Brightlances may or may not do anything, it's not really a safe bet.

All in all, your list is fractured, slow, and lacks punch. Swing and a miss.

With all sincerity, I think you need a new list.

Catch me if you can.

I concur lol.

I don't usually play eldar, was just looking to make a footslogging list with wraithlords and an avatar.

hmmm, how about this list. trying to keep it in the same idea...

1500 on the dot....

on of the things that nice is that you can keep the waveserpents in reserve, and being able to move 36" in one turn will guarantee you placement for the dragons and the flamers templates in the guardian squad, assuming they can survive the one turn. its not as bad also having 2 tanks to shoot at, and if they are in reserve, hopefully they will come in same turn. i really dont play with large enough terrain to completly block LOS. also, 4 MC that can provide cover for each other and then having the seer cast re roll saves on the spearhead MC (i use the avatar) is what i think you were trying to go for there. the lords will be running mostly, so the Cannon is there for turn 4-6 back\side armor hunting, but having the 2x flamers is a must now.

dont be afraid of running avengers into squads of termies and such if they stray too close..a blade storm and then an assualt can be suprisingly deadly especially with doom....the biggest thing in this list is getting the avatar in CC quickly. you dont want him being shot at, 40k having more shooty death weapons by far then punchy death now..

i personally love footslogging eldar, especially now. in fact im taking a bigger varient of this to ard boyz.

Thanks for the advice mate.

First thing though, I only count 3 MC's not 4 but probably a typo.

And secondly do you think there's enough anti tank in this list?

Also, in your experience how well do wraithlords fair? More for shooty or combat? I ask cause I have 1 converted brightlance toting Wraithlord that I love to death, looks hawt. I was hoping to maybe put 2 more in the list for combat to work along with the avatar. I might tweak the list you gave me in a bit and post it up for critique.

Once again thankyou, your list fits my theme very well

Okay here is a newlist.
I could drop the Wave Serpent and put in a nice cheap unit of scorpion's. This way I have no tanks, however the 2 brightlances in the guardian's and the brightlance on the wraithlord should be able to deal with the tanks until the fire Dragons get close.

I could also drop the dragons and the serpent in favour for some scorpion's and banshees or some more dire avengers.

Please critique.

Well, one Serpent asks for getting smoked early in the game. I would take out the Fire Dragons and add a squad of Harlies with kisses led by a Shadowseer. This is a perfect counter-strike unit; it could also approach the enemy along a flank walking behind the Wraithlords.

Cheers mate.

I'll make those changes shortly.

Harlies over scorps or banshees in your opinion?

Well, Scorpions in a Serpent outflanking the enemy could be an alternative.

Harlies over all other CC troops.

Give them a Phoenix lord (Maugen Ra is a great alternative to the Avatar) and no one will go near 'em. lol
