I was at home depot looking for black primer which they didn't have.. but they had a whole line of krylon paints that said they were for plastic.. in the picture on the can they had one of those cheapy plastic patio chairs everyone has and it said you can just spray it right onto the plastic. So, if I got that, would it still act like a primer and stick to models? It didn't say it was primer at all, just that it could be sprayed right on the plastic..

A friend of mine who used to be a pro-painter uses kraylon all the time. It comes in a useful range of colours, dries in a fraction of the time normal spray does and generally comes in larger cans.

Having said that it gives a *very* slightly roughened surface - not enough to obscure detail, but it may not be to your taste.

I'd say get a can and try on an old model. If nothing else its worth its weight in gold for doing tanks!

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

I have used Krylon's Black Matte Finish spray for all of my models and have never experienced a problem with it. I generally try to do a few thin coats of spray, rather than trying to cover everything on the first pass.

I use Krylon Black Matte Spray instead of the Black Primer they make.

However, the White Primer they make is better than the White Matte Spray.. so, depends on your color ideas..

However, since you can get a can of the stuff at Walmart for $3 instead of $10 for GW spray.. you can get 2 cans and experiment on junk models.

Seriously.. good paint.. great price.

i use krylon for some stuff. it has a nasty tendency to chip off on the peweter models though.

use duplicolor sandable auto primer in *insert diseried color hear* to prime the peweter.

I've used both the Krylon primer and the black ultra flat. Never had problems with either though an earlier poster was right, the black flat puts on a slight texture.

I use the Krylon Fusion plastic paint for almost all my plastics. It bonds super hard and durable, and you can get it in a satin finish that takes paint very well. It's a little thicker than some other paints, but I can still get good detail out of my infantry. I'm an army painter though, not golden demon style, so play around with it. The best part of all is you can get the satin in 15 or 20 colors. I painted my cadians in river rock, which makes a terrific base for the khaki fatigues. I painted my Tau, infantry and vehicles, with twilight, a very pale blue gray. After the base coat you can pick out the other colors, wash and highlight to taste, and your done. It saves me several steps, and I dont have to worry about paint wear, at least to date.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Yeah...in Alabama, the Krylon goes for 96 cents a can. I definitely recommend it unless you want very smooth undercoating.

When convention and science offer us no answers, might we not finally turn to the fantastic as a plausibility?

I like both Krylon and Rustoleum paints. Both have specialty paints that are designed for plastics that work well and come in different colors. Very nice if you want to basecoat quickly.

Cool thanks, I'll get that then. I've always used GW primers all these years (14 or so?) till I ran out once and had to use some krylon white primer from a household project I did.. and I really liked it, it covered the model great. I saw black spray primer at 1 small hardware store but they didn't have the other colors, so I went to home depot and they had every primer except black :( but they had that plastic stuff. But now that I think about it since I do also have a lot of metal stuff, it might be best to just stick with real primer so I can use it for everything. I will try the plastic stuff for my chaos tanks though, i need to find a color that looks close to bleached bone.

Here are two tau figures and a scenic piece I painted with Rustoleum paints:

The green is Rustoleum Camo Green

Tau test scheme. It's primed with Rustoleum Camo Tan and then washed with Liquitex Raw Umber

Primed with Rustoleum Specialty Textured (the one with a picture of the cheap lawn chair) in almond (more or less) and then edged with a little white
