Ok I had a thought the other day and it is kind of dumb but I want to explore the posibility.

If we come up with a 2000 Point Warhammer Fantasy Army that then gets entered into a Tournament. If the army wins Best General or Best Overall then the Trophy gets sent to Dakka Dakka.

Things that would have to be considered is amount of time to create the army (assemble, paint, create display board for et all), Some time to get practice playing the army and then run the army in a tournament.

Based on those priciples what Army would you select? There are other forums that have good listing of the different armies and how they work.

At present I am not sure if I would follow through with this. But given enough encouragement and if I see that the people contributing are being genuine in trying to help the cause, then I am willing to give it a try. I can paint an army with a decent competitive paint job in 1 to 2 months. So that should insure that soft scores based on painting do not affect the overall result. I am a decent player (still have lots to learn) but in my first year of playing I got to Grand Tournamnet Canada and placed in the middle of the pack (1 Massacre, 1 Solid Victory, 1 Draw, 1 Solid Loss and 1 Massacre Against [Losses were due more to dice rolls then anything else]).

So what do you say Dakka Dakkaites? What army would you pick and what configuration would you consider?

If you piloted it to best general/army, the trophy is yours. Why would you send it to anyone? Just thank those that helped in the list building and share your tactics and experiences. That is more valuable to players than just about anything.

It is my hope that the discussion that comes out of this was going to have tactical information and I would have written the battle reports in the post tournament.

So what you are proposing was intended. I had not made that clear yet. I was going to photo the progress and give updates and reports on the army. Problems encountered and so forth.

But we would still have to decide on, build and paint an army before any of this is possible.

So I am waiting for some responses to get the process going. Or I will see none and the army will never happen.

Overall I was just trying to get a discussion going.

Depends on the type of army that you want, do want to win no matter the way? or does fluff and theme matter?

If the first then Tzeentch or Nurgle daemons would be my suggestion, both are very push play and win, no real thinking or tactics involved

Personally I would prefer a more themed/individualized army that takes some skill to play

Yes specifics would be a great start. The new Dark elfs could be a very competitive army for turnies.

The fluff and theme of the army can be generated based on what ever army we come up with. So I would say that the focus for this army should be to win the Best General and if I get enough massacres that I would get Best Overall as well.

So lets focus on winning the game.

I have encountered a lot of nurgle in my area and it is most likely that people are going to find counters for that very soon. But I do agree that that seems very easy to run with and win. I have not seen much Tzeentch and would like to see a list for this. Other armies that I am told can win fairly easily are Bretonnians and Skaven. I have not read the new Dark Elf Book either so cannot comment on them.

eternal hatred is very nice and their meat and butter, black guard, are some of the best infantry in the game. Dark elfs have alot of unit that can deal death very easily and spearmen are dirt cheap, 7 points for with a shield, spear combo. There are tons of other goodies as well pick the codex next time ur out and browse through it you may find something you like.
