So I tend to never really see a Dredd do anything very useful I haven’t played a ton of games since 5th has dropped though so really I would like some other people’s views and thoughts on the subject.

The models look cool I will give you that. Lots of modeling options, but it seems the cool model doesn’t do much but look cool.. In fact its almost like I don’t need to buy the model I can just say . “I paid for a dredd so just don’t shoot that lascannon this turn.”
It’s not exactly that bad but not super better as far as I have seen.

I am guessing they are a support unit at best?

Are there some builds or tactics that make them far more useful?

I play Orks but really would like to hear tactics about all Dredds in general.

Try two dreads. Keep them close to each other in cover and make sure at least one has a close combat weapon. I think you'll see better results.

With Dreadnoughts you really have to take a whole bunch of 'em of leave them at home. One or two are easy targets but 3+ (especially more than 3) becomes a real problem. This isn't an option for Orks but I have also found Venerable dreads to be tough as nails in 5th edition.

Rule #1 with dredds in an Ork army, buy lots of them or none of them

Rule #2 buy a mek with a KFF and keep him as close to a mob of dredds as you can.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Agree. Also, they were better when they could twin-link their Rokkits.

Well the weapons not being twin linked does suck.

If I run a dredd I have been running them with 3CCW and a scorcha or with 4 CCW’s.

So would you say if I wanted to run a Dredd heavy list to run 5 dredd’s or would it be better to run 4 dredd’s and 3 kans?

Kans are shooty and provide more targets. They aren’t as good as dredd’s but they aren’t horrible. They are like Coke Zero not coke but not horrible. Good in a different way.

Also in your opinion is this going to be a viable list or a yeah its fun but its going to be a challenge to win with kind of list?

DREDDS ARE AWESOME. My space wolves dreadnaught never leaves my army list. Ork ones are similar i guess

Take dredds, you won't regret it. They're as killy as can be.

Of course your SW list has a dread in it. Every SW list has a dread in it. Let me guess, it is an HQ?

Do not both adding any weapons to a Deff Dredd but four close combat weapons. You can get better shooting elsewhere in the list for cheaper. 4 close combat weapons are going to make a mess of anything, and they look really, really cool.
