Hi,

Can a minefield from a Whirlwind be placed over a deployed Dark Eldar WWP?

Thanks

I see no reason why they should not be allowed to be placed over a WWP. I have had it done to me before. It sucked but I did not argue the legality of it.

Can you place a minefield halfway off of the table? I believe the answer is no. Same for placing it on the webway portal.

However, I am interested in what other people have to say.

A WWP is something you cannot sit a land raider on or any other model, you have to surround it. You could place a minefield around it, skimmers can fly over it still with whatever risk.

My experience is if the enemy treats it like impassable terrain or like a giant transport you have to block all edges to block things from coming out you won't go far wrong.

Per the latest DE FAQ skimmers can fly out, why foot soldiers would be blocked if it was surrounded, so you would be wise to protect it blah blah. It is really a table edge, so I would argue that the mines go off into the webway never to be seen again. Off the table in other words.

It's treated as board edge and that makes it impassable terrain.

So placing it next to it, yes. On it, no don't think so.

Board edges are impassable? How does everyone move on the table? And how do Large models (>6" move mostly on?

I agree with Stelek.

It states specifically that it's treated as impassable terrain. I would say if the center hole ended up on the WWP you would be out of luck. If the center hole isn't on the WWP template itself then the mines occupy all areas not occupied by the WWP.

I say don't worry about it.

Castellian Minefields will be gone when the new SM book comes out so no reason to argue over this point.

Unfortunately I'm TO at 70 person tournament and the question has been asked.

I'll make it clear prior to the event that CM can't be placed on the portal and any part that scatters onto the portal is void.

Thanks guys for the replies.
