Build request:

1850 Sisters of Battle
Incorporating arco flagelants and penitent engines.

=========================================

The suck of the suck, eh?

You can't have alot of both, because they cost too much.

It's not gonna be good wanting both, but here ya go:

Run the Engines in front. Run and Rage towards the enemy.

Run the arcos intermixed in the engine squads, both as far forward as possible.

Keep the Canoness centered on your Sisters squads so they get LD10, and all Sisters behind the penitents.

The Canoness unit gives a little more CC punch to your army.

Oh, it's not quite that bad.

Well, yes it is. But it's funny and unexpected.

This army comes galloping across the table at you, and I do mean galloping and I think most people would need a minute to think about 'what do I do, I've never seen this before.'

Just wanted to see what you'd come up with, though it's not a hard build to put together given the super high point costs of everything.

Penitent Engines show up quickly in your face, and if you don't kill them quickly they'll crush you in CC.

Sounds fun but...

If I remember right, Pertinent Engines are AV10 open topped so they blow up rather quickly.

You only have two scoring units also.

You didn't. They are AV11 (but are open-topped).

They do tend to blow up quickly though.

Sisters are the best troops in the game.

How many scoring units do you need to win? Exactly 1.

Well, technically speaking, one could win with zero.

I know the arcos were part of the point, but it seems like the penitent engine theme could be strengthened by dropping the flagellents and fitting in some more AV11. Rhinos for the battle sisters, and some Celestians with Immolators. Karamazov also seems like a natural choice in a list like this although I'm not sure you have the points available here.

True enough.

I'd never buy rhinos for the Sisters, they can run behind the engines and enjoy 4+ cover saves.

I would buy 9 penitent engines and 9 flamer sentinels to make this a more fluffy (and crazy) army build.

Karamazov does indeed make a good choice, and when I originally tried this list he was in it.

With Run, I think you can do quite a good bit of damage with this list.

I'd say it is a more feasible army list at 2000 points though.

Of course it would.

That's why it's called the Carnival.

Clowns can't fight, silly.

Sadly, I knew it when it was being playtested and told the designer of the 'dex that. We were ignored, and now penitent engines are sad. At least he un-nerfed them immediately with a new FAQ, so that's good. It makes this kind of army viable in fun games.

yea for fun games but in a not fun game this would get stompie thats all I'm saying.

I cant wait to see this played one day though

I'm so very tempted to run this kind of army as my fun 'play in the store and have a good time army'

People piss me off with it and out will come the chaos or the eldar, but this looks like it would just be fun all the time.

It is. Andy Hoare wrote some horrible units his first time at the gate, that's for sure.
