I've been considering trying Aeronautica Imperialis, but I wanted to see what everyone thinks of it.... How's game play....is it enjoyable? Pros and cons of the game? Any information players of the game can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Its a good fun game, the only drawback is the price of the books as only about a quarter of each one is actual game rules, the rest is just fluff. You dont really need to use the Forge World aircraft (normal Epic ones are fine) or the special bases for the game, they just make record keeping easier.

I am interested in playing as well, and have one question:
How much smaller are the models than usual? I know its epic scale, but I have never played epic. Does anyone have some scale shots, say next to a 25 mm base?

Undead Titan Log
Malfred: Terminator Armor has always had room for extra boobage.
Drake_Marcus: It's true- that's why the Space Wolves love termie armour so much. The whole "bear" thing they've got going on is just a thinly veiled cover-up of their huge, hairy cleavage.

I just received the rulebooks from Forgeworld and so far it looks like a fun and interesting game. Now to order some flyers and get my squadron up and running.

I've played a half dozen games and find it quite fun, if a little too dependent on luck. (or maybe mine has just been bad). If you like manuever games than you will enjoy it. I agree on the price of the books but if people are playing it than the cost isn't the issue. Also you don't need too many models. We play 2 people/side and 3-4 models /person. Compare that to 40k. the mechanics are simple and record keeping is minimal. We are toying with the idea of changing initiative from the side with the highest possible speed, and a dice roll (with sides alternating) to the actual speed of the planes. Slowest planes would go first. Shooting would still be up to the individuals to choose who shoots first. This would be more realistic but might also change the balance of the game. The one time we tried it, sides would switch initiative each turn. (He would move a slow plane and gain speed for the next turn, I would try a daring move to get a good shot but slow down. I would shoot and do some damage. Initiative would reverse and he would try the same thing with me. Really made the game exciting. We have had a couple of games where we would run out of ammo and still not be able to shoot down a bomber.

The Forge World models are larger than Epic models. My Orc fightas are over an inch long and wide whereas my epic fightas are less than an inch. Bombers are 3 inches long and wide. The bases are great for easy reference and bookkeeping.

Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.
