Do you want to go from the battle box? Or totally from scratch? I have everything & played them since day one, a lot, so I can mouth off on any questions you have.
Generally, everyone loves Basilisk Kreas, & the Rhinodon & you always need some Paingivers & an Ancestral Guardian & Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew.
Then go from there.

I thought about the following 500 pt list:
• Supreme Aptimus Zaal
• Titan Canonneer
• Basilisk Krea
• 2x Ancestral Guardian
• 6x Immortals
• 12x Praetorians

the battle box is a fair place to start; but doesn't really carry any of the "key" (read more typically used) skorne beasts. (and Morgy doesn't play like the other locks at all)
in terms of order of acquisition / usefulness of units I've found I prefer the following:
Of the Titans the Canonneer is the first I'd get;
Of the lights; my preference is the Krea; (although the new shaman may bump this one)
Units wise;
praetorians (due to their utility as fuel)
Paingivers (beast buffs)
cataphract cetrati (brick mode)
Solos :
2 AG's (you'll want the second for Zaal)
"second tier" (more 'specialized')
Beasts :
Rhinodon (glass cannon) / Bronzeback
Cyclops Savage/ Drake
Units:
Immortals / Ferox
Solos:
Agonizer
Rarley used:
beasts: Gladiator / Brute
units: Actuarii / venerators.
I've not tried the karax; but I expect them to be similar to the cetrati; but better fuel; so more ideal for a zaal list.

This would work & I have used it to good success. Either with 2 units of 6 Swordsmen, or 10 w/ the UA. It's a lot better with the UA, I assume that's what you meant. It's too light on warbeasts but with Zaal you can get away with it unless you run across someone who can Spirit Lock you back or similar effects.
Everything Skipmcne said is pretty solid info also, except don't buy into the whole "no one uses Gladiators" thing. The better players use them all the time. The other beasts are far from being better, they are just more obvious & easier to use but more limited in application. A skilled player with a Rhinodon & a Gladiator is flatout better off than one using two Rhinodons almost every time. If only for the flexibility & much improved staying power.

I find Skorne benefit a lot from minions that can give you a unit with pathfinder like the Totem Hunter or that drunken ogrun. I've also had limited success using bog trogs to limit where my opponent can move.
In a list like this, switching to one max unit of Praetorians and picking up a minion solo might help. My only worry is that you'd be down two souls in a list that's already tight for souls, but that might not be that bad since your AGs can get a free charge.

My problem with this list is my only game where I actually
used it was against a pop n' drop army.
It didn't end well.
I need to get more games in it.

Hey, Malfred, I thought it is a good start.
My main opponents will be Cryx, Cygnar, and Protectorate.
What warcaster would you take?
