hello all,
i am starting a death guard army and i am wondering something...is it worth paying the 15 pts for a champion plague marine to lead my squads?

plague marines are fearless so the extra LD point is of no use....also of the four squads of seven marines i plan to take, two will be as fire support so no real need for the power fist upgrade he allows you to take.

so if i take one in each of the two squads im putting in rhinos, but DONT take them in the two i shall have as fire suport....do you think i am mad....or sensible?

many thanks

phill

You NEED the champion for the powerfist. If you do not have the powerfist, your unit will suffer in hth.

What the hell do you plan on arming your fire support plague marines with? They can't take heavy weapons.

The smart plan is to equip the 7 man squad with 2 plasma guns and a champ with fist and plama pistol.

you do need a champion
the fist will make its points back so many times its incredible
also it great cause you dont want a fex or wraithlord ruining your day

not again

you do need a fist. this is why:

your 7 man PM squad will be happily guarding your objective when a flyrant comes along. he will shoot you up a bit (you wont care) and then he will charge you. if you dont have a fist you will lose that combat, that objective and maybe even the game. if you have a fist you will win, slowly, but you will.

PMs are one of the most resilient units in the game. giving them a fist give them some teeth in CC. always worth it.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I would take the fist. The extra resiliency makes it more of a sure thing. I don't think I would take the Plasma pistol though, just because 15pts isn't really worth it I don't think. Only if there was nothing else to do with the points.

The champion does not lead his teammates by his leadership. He leads by his fist.

Take him and give him a fist.
