The trick to blending anything is multiple *very* thin coats, progressively getting lighter. The paint should be slightly transparent. It takes patience and practise, but you'll get it in time. As for colours, for a nice healthy looking human skin basecoat bestial brown, blend up to dwarf flesh, then to elf flesh for the highlights. Avoid bronzed flesh like the plague, that colour is worse than incest.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

Many layers is the best way to do it. Make them translucent by mixing them all with a little water (this also keeps the details on the face from getting covered up).

So... you need a very small brush, and you need to do lots of layers, and that takes patience. As for colors, there are lots of variations of "start with a medium brown and work your way up to a light flesh tone." Depending on the race of the character, age, hair color or other factors that effect the hue of the skin, you'll want to use different paints.

Since you are having trouble with the blending, don't start out with straight bestial brown. Instead, mix some of your flesh tone in with the darkest layer, then highlight up by mixing in more and more of the flesh tone. This should help any of the changes in layers from being abrupt.

one more thing, using water to make them almost transparent i have done that. But then it goes onto the recesses
