When I saw the 5th Ed. pdf, I went out on a limb and decided to buy several Warriors armed w/ Spitters (Secondary 'play' army). I won't get into my specific build but basically I run 3 squads of Warriors w/ Spitters (Barbed in every 5) and a HQ Warrior squad. Rest of army is play/filler/gant screen for walking Warriors.
Well, I assumed the Str. 6 blasts would do well (bio'd up str)...but damn they've been incredibly deadly. I've done really well against my buddies (Very good/experienced players)...and I don't know if it just matches up well with them...or it's really that good. Anyone experienced against/with this list?

I'm just curious, what armies do your friends play.
Is the Spitters working well against hoard armies, MEQs, or is the Spitter just all-round good?
I'm glad you posted your results because I've been thinking of doing the same thing (more or less)!

Yes. I posted it a while ago.
Blackmoor poo-poo'd it.
It does indeed suck to play against.
I'm glad you are enjoying it.

One plays Tau, another Eldar, another CSM. I screen with gants since my AP doesn't matter against any of those armies anyways...although one of our group is starting to paint Orcs up. If he doesn't run KFF I might run Gants to the side first turn...guess I'll test that.
I'm a big believer in low AP multi-shot/save weaponry in 5th. Most everything gets cover it seems so AP has been weakened....and with wound allocation the more saves you make them take the better your chance of nabbing something important.
So, I think it works equally well against horde and MEQ. It's kind of a Warp Spider/War Walker X 9 effect; Many Str 6 shots = many, many saves.

I ran a list with them and with the new template rules, much much better. Nids are ok at hitting the high STR weapons alway get easy wounds but low AP makes up for high STR. Now the Deathspitters hit more....much better even VS MEQs

The "Nid-Blast" army has been around before and let me tell you from experience, it definitely sucks to play against.
Its way stronger than in previous ed. though where the carny's and tyrants had to roll to hit.
I expect a whole heck of a lot of people to start playin the new bugs lists like this:
1- Tyrant
Psychic scream, lashwhip/bone sword barbed strang. toxin sacs
1- Tyrant
Same way but with wings and reps the whip/swd with scything talons
2- (5) man warrior sqds.
1- barbed 4-deathspitters all scything and toxin sacs
3 lictors
2 super carnies
barbed strang, death spitter + whatever suits fancy (depending on pts)
3- (5) man warrior sqd.
same as foot but with wings
3 Zoanthropes
psy scream and warp blast
other stuff like troops don't really matter, you fill them up with what you got. if you have a lot of spinegaunts, take them. stealer-shock (laugh) go ahead. the point is this: with all those str6/8 blast templates going everywhere you are bound to hit something. as with the new rules, there is now no need to take enhanced senses with anything other than ripper swarms. trust me it has worked, and will continue to work until major rules changes happen. until then. "Blast" away.

Why bother with Lictors? Most armies won't make it into combat with you, and you don't want anyone locked up.
Spamming all the blast templates you can seems to be 'the win'.

Yeah, I enjoy the Psy scream spam w/ Stranglers too....but I run more Warrior Squads, minus the xtra Tyrant and minus the Lictors. In exchange, I put in some flanking Stealers and Gants. The only problem I've ever had is people staying in tough transports...and the Fex/Thropes are my only hope there.

the reason for the lictors are for those pesky armies that will get into hth with you... nothing says i win in hth than having pref. enemy with a crap ton of atks. so w/e troops you take, spinegaunts, termagaunts, or rippers they all get rerolls to hit!

S'long s'you roll good on dem difficult terrain checks, nothing wrong with Lictors. If you are not in a GW store or tourney, I guarantee you that it is possible to rules lawyer (via the despicable "this isn't rules lawyering this is common sense play by the spirit of the game" variety espoused by certain historical gamers I have run into who also seem to have no sense of fun or scenario balance...) cow or otherwise bully an opponent into ignoring their this, therefore allowing you to use the pieces effectively while avoiding giving more of your hard earned cash to GW. (I mean, c'mon, if they're gonna play the game less than seriously then just punish'em for it lol.)

I would also mention two further reasons for Lictors 1) Dawn of War and 2) given several vehicles will be developing pill box syndrome in order to maximize rate of fire while taking advantage of cover, having the flexibility of having a lictor pop out of the cover for which the vehicle was hiding behind with 4 auto hits at str 6 on auto back armour...about a 44% chance of popping it in the end.

Also, IMHO I would say that TL-Death Spitters (DS) on warrior have always been a pretty good option, it is just thanks to 5th, they got more buffed. The first army I played upon getting the new 4th edition codex included 2 sniper tyrants, 3 sniper fexes, 3-3 man squads of warriors with 1 BS and 2 TL DS, 2-3 man warrior squads w/ wings with 1 VC and 2 TL-DS, 1 squad of spine gaunts with WoN, and the rest gene stealers. It could layout serious firepower even against other shooty armies like Tau, Eldar, and DA.
