With Plague Marines being stupidly hard to kill, and with Necrons maybe becoming FNP, it seems than the Star Cannon is a MUST, for the AP2 and the 3+ to wound (for plagues) or better. What are your thoughts on Vehicle units 2 better then 3 or not.

Thanks for your time.

Well, infantry eventually gets a cover save, 4+, thanks to the new edition. Therefore, star cannons are questionable (also due to their high pt cost).

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Note that Starcannons do not cancel FNP on T4. You need S8 or higher or else a close combat weapon that ignores armour saves.

Starcannons used to be good, now they suck. Oh well. Problem is they compete with Scatter Lasers. They could make it S7 AP2 Heavy 2, with the Pulse Laser having longer range and the Bright Lance having the Lance Rule.

It is S6 because it does not Get Hot!.

Actually - Starcannons are AP 2. They cancel any FNP save based on the new FNP rules for 5th ed.

I stand corrected.

That's cool.

They should be S7 AP2 Heavy 2 anyway .

Wow! We agree on something.

Pulse Laser, Bright Lance, Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon and the Shuricat (with doom) would all still fill a niche.

Back on topic, I don't think Starcannons are a 'must' but they are better with that change. Eldrad + Starcannon Warwalkers in cover is a great combo.

As for vehicle squads, I would have to read the rules. Under the older rule sets I always preferred 2 over 3 because you had to kill both to get full points. Of course another way to look at it is that if you kill 2 of 3 you get 1.5 points and you have to kill the last one to get 3 points.

But I don't know the new system.

Also squads of 3 (so say Warwalkers) stacks with Guide and Fortune.
