I have been reading a lot of posts on this site. Every now and then I see someone mention using magnets to make it easier to mod your models. What kind of magnets are you using, and how are is this accomplished? Does anyone have some pics that they could post so I could see what folks are talking about? Thanks.

Most commonly we're talking about rare earth/Neodynium magnets. I order mine from KJ magnetics.
www.kjmagnetics.com
They're not expensive so you can browse the site and order a variety of sizes until you find one you like. I use the smaller disc magnets exclusively. The last time I ordered I got 250 D21. That's the size I generally used to make detachable vehicle mounts and monstrous creature arms. I have some bigger and smaller ones that I seldom use. For example, I rarely feel that it's worth the time to magnetize arms on infantry-sized models.
Generally people are using magnets to allow them to field variations of something without buying a whole other boxed set. For example, I have the arms magnetized on my hive tyrant so I can give him a bone sword or talons or a venom cannon or whatever I feel like.

Ah, okay. Do you have any pics? I'd love to see how you mounted them in the army sockets, or on the vehicle.

You add a pin. Here is an example shamelessly linked from some guy's flickr account found through google images:

See the pics below. BTW, the magnet I used were given to me by a Tournament Organizer as part of the best painted prize. They're from Wal-Mart, and they're some sort of fride magnet. Take care if you do get these to use, as cuttinedg them out of the brittle plastic can cause it to shatter. I wear eye protection when I do cut them out of their plastic shell. They're more size for vehicle conversions/weapon mounts.

I've seen people use a secondary pin to stop the slide.
so, looking at the torso of the model:
O <---magnet
o <--- hole for pin
EDIT: Dang, Lego, you beat me to it. Curse you and your "Google"!
