I think what you've addressed is the start, but it's only tackling the first half of the issue. The second half - making them competitive - has been a problem since the DA Codex came out and got rid of the use of the 4E get you by list (which was really the most competitive version of the DW list for years). I think that next step needs to be taken - not exactly sure what, but if you're going to fix Deathwing, might as well do it right.

Move Sammael to the Space Marines codex too and you can throw out the abomination that is the 4th ed DA codex all together.

Hell, I'd be happy if they just let Lysander take terminators as troops and I could just "count as" my whole army.

Actually, I would make the Sword of Silence a master-crafted Relic Blade. That way, you get the good old +2S to it.

I really like the idea a lot.

But to get the rules to completely mesh with the new codex you would need to do the following:

Make the Deathwing Assault rule a a 'Chapter tactic' that replaces combat tactics for the army and specify that if the player takes multiple characters with chapter tactics he must choose which one to use (this is how the Chapter tactic rules work for the rest of the characters in the new codex).

Also, I'm sure whether or not the change to the FOC should be part of that chapter tactic or not. If it is for the White Scars guy then it should be for Belial (I can't remember).

I don't remember seeing in the most recent rumors about the White Scars commander that his rules include the change to the FOC. But I could be wrong about that.

Hey, can Terminator Squads in the new Codex be split into Combat Squads?

I'm pretty new, and am playing Deathwing/Ravenwing. Still building my army, so I'm sorry if this is a really dumb question. I'm not sure that I understand how DA is broken right now. Could someone explain? Thanks.

There is a poster on the B&C who said the same thing. I think its a great idea actually and helps make paying 130 points for a pretty low key character worth it.

Yeah, if I played DW more recently I probably would take TLC on him, but the loyalist LCs just look so dumb and it's hard (/expensive) to pry CSM Term Lord Lightning Claws from their owners.

At the moment, they're not broken. They will be underpowered in comparison to the new Space Marine Terminators and their options. Right now, I can't take Belial and a squad in a Land Raider, in the new codex you can take 6 terminators in a Land Raider. Right now a storm shield only gives a 4+ invulnerable in CC, in the new Codex they give a 3+ invulnerable to all attacks. Deathwing can't take Drop Pods(which is more a situational advantage that was discussed in another thread). It's inconsistant crap like this that is making me shelf mine. I'd rather play my Space Wolves.
