can HE special units be run in small units in large numbers. what I meen is can you run six squads of special units at two thousand points? you lock up combat with the six squads, charge a dragon into the flank, and roll up the line.

Wit, large guns, and a ten-thousand man boarding party is the easiest way to convince anyone your not cheating at cards

The tactic you are looking for is MSU or multiple small units.
Its something dark elves came up with (back when all high elves ever took was cav)

I believe with ASF, good elite units, and the posibility of multiple stubborn units it can work.
Be warned though, every unit will cost 150 pts or more. Chars (a bsb is a must in this army) and bolt throwers will cost you arround 8-900. This leaves you with enough points for 8 or so units.

I havent been able to try this yet as I dont have all the models that would be needed (and i like my dragon mage) but I believe it could work. Vampires would give it trouble and heavy shooting armies are also a pain.

if special chars are allowed taking the three main elf chars would help this army out a huge ammount.
One unit becomes stuborn, one unit becomes immune to fear, and tycels grants you a very good magic defence(helping emencly vs vampires btw)

im sorry that this is a little off the topic of the forum, but i was always under the impression that stubborn characters lost that ability when they joined a non-stubborn unit..am i wrong?....again my apoloigies

Might be their special rules that add them to the unit.

if a stubborn char joins a unit that isn't stubborn, the whole unit becomes stubborn

that's why attaching korhil to a unit is so nice
