Okay so how hard is it to kill a stompa or any other titan?

deepstriking metla guns good? 7 lascannons?

what are your thoughts on the most effective means on kocking one down?

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

Um, If I knew My opponent was bringing in a titan, I would get the most mega lascannony thing I could find to bring it down.

The thing about Titans is that while their hard to use, their hard to destroy. I've almost never heard of a titan making up its point cost (I've only read of 5 battle reports with titans or anything else of that class, so my judgment isn't the best around) but In almost every single report, the guy without the titan wastes more firepower than he should have on the titan.

So my answer is I don't really know but be carefull to not fire at the titan at the expense of better targets

Sadly, most players are just not commited to the hobby enough to invest in titans. I find it hard to take these guys seriously but they do exist. I prefer to only play against guys that are willing to invest the money for a titan.

BTW, I am joking.

I had a buddy with a beautifully handpainted Warhound that was collecting dust in his parent's basement. He sold it to another associate of mine who owns his own basement, where it is currently collecting even more dust.

Luck, Strength D, or possibly melta-weaponry is your best bet. CC is nice too, especially a MC that lets you put a lot of punch in one unit, so they can't stomp it to gain lots of attacks.

I've had my stompa survive a 5000-6000 point battle with a large amount of the enemy anti-tank aimed at it, and I've had it die from random shots that had nothing to shoot at.

Strength D will really rip it apart, but not much else can do much to it, besides lots of stuff that will get 2d6 for penetration.

Depending on which kind of titan:

Imperial/Ork: Do NOT use your strength D weapons until the shields are down. If you can get close enough to use meltas, make sure the shields are down by anything s6 or higher. Lascannons work, but they're only 48".

Personally, I use Basilisks with spotting rounds.

Eldar: if they've been moving, pray that they roll poorly. That 4+ save is a pita of the highest order.

3 85 point veteran squads with meltaguns dropping behind a titan usually does the trick.

Almost any Tau army walking on the board can punk a titan a turn without much effort.

Dark Eldar all-Lance Ravagers do well, especially if you have enough of them for the formation with the anti-field ability.

Everbody always tells me their titans get blown up by melta guns or in close combat. Usually cheap little untis do it too.

Still, titans are just cool.

and the cheap way to field a titan, dress up in cardboard boxes, walk like a robot and tell you friends you are a remote controlled Imperator titan.

Depends what you play, if you trick out your army to kill war machines you are likely to be successful. I think a farseer and large retinue of warlock on jetbikes is scariest unit out there for war machines. Fly passed the shields throw their strength 9 spears, then assault hitting at initiative with more strength 9 hits. It is an expensive unit, but it could kill a titan a turn.

Also a lucky hit could really mess up a titian. I once rolled 3 chain reactions on a single hit on stompa.

Eldar are probably in the best position to deal with titans. From range they can pump out pleanty of mid strength shots to bring down the shields and then bright lance the titans to death. At short range, fire dragons eat titans for lunch if you bring a decent number of them. In hand to hand they also have seer councils that all have 2 strength 9 attacks (or 1 and a strength 9 shooting attack).

I like cloud strike formation with 3 squads of fire dragons riding along.

That is probably the most brutally thing that can be done to a titan. I am surprised I didn’t think of it. The serpents reduce all ballistic hits to strength 7 for incredible durability while the dragons inflict 30 melta hits inside the shields. That could probably put a scare to an emperor titan. Of course it is a suicide strike, but you would easily get your points back when facing a 1000 point plus war machine.
