Hi.
After sniffing glue for about 5 hours straight I felt like building my own Zzap gun.
I bought a lot of grots and i felt i needed more than my 3 Kannons for them to play with.

Anyways - Previously I bought a box of cadian heavy weapon teams and i found their lascannon in my bit box.

one thing led to another and.. well.. here you go:

Note: The loose cable is only due to me stressing the build. it will be attached properly later...

Bonus Killa Kan in urban setting:

I really need suggestions on how to make it more orky. I think the powering-bit ties in well with the custom force field of my mek but i'ts missing something.

Maybe I should just buy proper Zzap guns?

Help Dakkadakka, you are my only hope.

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

looks ok, but too imperial, try cutting the barrel so its a straight cut and add something sticking out from it.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Agreed. Looks more like an IG lascannon variant than something orky, even if it was salvaged and reused by the orks, it would look better with more hack-ups and plating.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I also agree it still looks too imperial.

Start with the tripod- replace it with something (almost anything) else, even to the point of plates over it to disguise it.

The blast shield needs to be biggerified- strap some more plates to it.

The end of the barrel needs one of the gun sights(preferably off centre)- if you are playing orks you should have dozens.

Those 3 changes should take about 10 minutes and completely change the feel of the model.

The Zzap gun should have some sort of coil around the barrel to generate the *Zzap!!!* So maybe wrap the barrel in a big helical coil type affair? Change the end to something more Zzappish and less lascannon-ish would help too... Everyone knows weapons best by the barrel tips, changing that will throw people off a bit more.

The best thing to use for the end of the barrel is a drywall anchor, it has a sharp point and a spiral like some sort of twisted eletrical insulator.

I dont mind it but is too clean for something orky, i would rough it up abit and add alot of wires and stuff to it, cut and mix up the barrel

I'm surprised nobody has come up with rivets yet.

Also, maybe make it less circular, orks could never make a barrel that neat.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I will try them out and if I like the result and not totally destroy the model I will post the result here.

I really like the off-centre sight idea from Waaagh_Gonads.

Back to the modelling table (coffee table actually...) ...

The coil around the barrel is an idea to good to miss out on.
