pretty much what the title says.

if so how is 5th ed. treating your army/armies?

any new tricks, or nerfed old ones?

or any general sugestions.

I have flinched away from Mech IG at the moment - WAY too many kill points in play. For a typical 1750 list, you're looking at over 16 KPs in easily-digestable packages.

And my non-Mech IG list has 21 Kill Points at 1750 points..............

Mech has possibilities, in that it will generally grant fewer KP while sustaining a fairly high rate of fire downrange and providing more mobility. However, I'm still sticking with my standard IG gun-line for the time being. Maybe after the GTs I'll start fiddling around with a Mech list.

I played Mech IG in 4th edition but after a few games of 5th edition with it I have shelved it for the moment. Between kill points and the various changes to the vehicle rules it is going to need some serious retooling. I am going to need quite a few more lascannons in it because as it stands now I can't kill enemy vehicles effectively now that glances don't kill (and I have so many vehicles I can't really use cover effectively myself) and I'm also not real crazy about the fact that my vehicles have to sit still to shoot effectively now. Being able to move 6" and fire at full effect was pretty nice in 4th.

Mech IG fails against most armies because there's really only one thing that those tanks excel at: knocking down masses of troops. Against vehicles they are not good, against mopping up a couple of single models they are not good. Against most mech rushes, leman russes fail. BS3 with sponson lascannons and/or 50% scatter with ordnance usually spells out a loss. Against troop squads you can rarely do enough wounds to keep the lone power fist from crushing your rear armor.

Bottom line is IG tanks need infantry support.

I'm playing the Rolling Chimera Circus right now in 5th and seem to be doing okay with it. Anti-tank is covered by meltaguns and Demolisher cannons. I also make my own cover using the Demolishers and Hellhounds (both of which can move and fire) to provide cover to the Chimeras (which don't usually care about giving the opponent a cover save).

Kill Points are just going to be one of those things IG has to suck up for the time being. Both infantry and armour builds end up with close to 20 KP regardless of what gets added, so there really isn't a good reason to compromise your army's power just to try to shave KPs IMO.

i'd say he effectively expressed his effective position, or something to that effect. you on the other hand could have effectively expressed how effective his presentation had been and what an effect it had on you without the need for suicide.

Or maybe if you have more affection for those who were badly affected by the effects of the greedy affection that GW has for money. You could, in effect say that, no matter what after affects you may be affected by in the effectual moment. That life and all its wnders may blah blah blah affect blah blah effect balh blah blah affecting the effects of your infections...

Overuse of certain words aside I am curious as to whether someone here has had good luck with Mech IG lists because while they did well for me in 4th edition they have been really underwhelming so far in 5th edition.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Mech IG has performed comically bad for me. Me and a friend played our first game of 5th edition in early July using mechanized 4th edition lists (him dark angels, me Mech IG) and it was the most ridiculous game I have ever played. I have never seen such worthless shooting ever from two "shooting" based armies. At the end of the game out of around 12 tanks that were on the table at the start of the game only one of them was destroyed. I had one destroyed chimera, there were several immobilized vehicles on both sides and quite a few unscratched tanks including my demolisher.

I have played a few games with Mech IG. They all seem to go well, as far as my local gaming group is concerned. I use Leman Russes for Anti-Troop power, and one demolisher for anti tank. I take as many chimeras as fit in the points, then give the guardsman meltaguns. The massed Multi-las and H.Bolt fire from the chims takes down big nasties like Greater daemons, and does very well vs. ork hoards too. The guardsman inside go after Tanks + objectives, or just go to ground to stay out of the way. I drive my tanks in formations, where a chimer is partially obscuring a leman russ, giving it a cover save. If a Lascannon dev squad decides to pop a chimera over a leman russ, you're pretty set. Another tank trick, is to face side armour of a battle tank to the enemy, then cover it with a chimera, and let them shoot at your front AV 14 with a 3+ cover save.

The possibilities there, but it really depends on your gaming group's armies.
