Here is a combined force i'm thinking about running and i could really use some feedback as i won't be able to playtest it before the tournement:

GK Brother Captain w/3 GKT's Retinue (274)
-2xPsycannons, Psychic Hood

-Elites-

GK Termie Squad (254)
-3GKT, 1 BC, 2xPsycannon

Eversor (95)

Inquisitor w/Retinue (350)
-Psycannon
-2xHB Servitors
-Dedicated Landraider

-Troops-

GK Squad (225)
-7 Grey Knights, 1 Justicar

GK Squad (225)
-7 Grey Knights, 1 Justicar

GK Squad (275)
-7 Grey Knights, 1 Justicar
-2xPsycannons

IG Platoon (270)
-Command Platoon w/1 Power Weapon, All CCW+LP
-3xGuard Squads w/Rocket Launchers (never call them MISSile Launchers )

-Heavy Suppot-

GK Dreadnought (140)
-TL Lascannon, Rocket Launcher

GK Dreadnought (140)
-TL Lascannon, Rocket Launcher

Landraider (250)

The guard were added to hold the objectives to free up the GK's to move and shoot freely. The 6 TL Lascannons should make up for a lot of the lack of AT in basic squads and enough shots so that i can hopefully hurt the horde armies. Let me know what you think, Thanks in advance

Well, i have been on the receiving end of some particularly nasty DH lists.

It generally goes something like this:
HQ:
GK Master+ 6 termies (a few thunder hammers thrown in for AT)
Brother Captain Stern
^This is an absolutely sick unit on the charge with 2 forceweapons, 4 Nemesis, 2 thunderhammers

Elites:
Inquisitor w/ Emperor's tarot (to get 1st turn)+shooty retinue
Add assassins and other nastiness to taste

Troops:
2x Suicide stormies (5 w/ 2 meltas) in rhinos
^can kamakazie, babysit objectives, or do a late-game snatch
Inducted IG (sometimes infantry, sometimes armored fists)
^firesupport

Fast Attack:
Sometimes teleporting GKs (but very rarely)
Sometimes hellhounds
Sometimes sentinels

Heavy support:
GK Landraider Crusader (always has smoke)
Sometimes a leman russ (for improved comms)
sometimes GK dreads with lascannon/ ROCKETs

The general idea here is for the termies, the master and stern to charge forward in the land raider, killing everything in their path (which they usually do) while the rest of the army sits back and shoots or secures objectives. It plays more like an IG list with a BAMF assault unit than a true DH list. It gets a lot harder when the crusader dies first turn (hence the tarot), but if it doesn't die/isn't immobilized then its almost guaranteed to get to their lines... i think the fact that you can't consolidate into new units would be a big killer here.

But w/e you want to run, i've just seen this have great success (under 4th at least)

I like the idea of a big strike GKT squad but using one my heavy support on a tank that is just a delivery system seems week to me. plus GK's have the best LR's bar none since they can now move 6" and fire both twin linked lascannons at bs4 at two seperate targets.

As for the suicide stormtroopers it's not bad but i'm trying to play a mobile force, shifting as needed. they just wouldn't last on an objective and wouldn't hold up to many units for even a single combat phase. the guard i added are just to sit still and lob a couple of rockets while freeing up the GK's to run around freely and focus fire on single units at a time. i can also feed them like a meat grinder to enemies to leave them standing in the open for a counter attack or brutal shooting phase. the basic guard might also depending on the list i'm playing play the role of mobile cover for my GK's.

I'm trying to avoid turning them into a gun line with a single combat squad. i want the army to be mobile in a way that results in it being tactical.

Any ideas on how this will fair or what it might have problems with? I'm curious as to what people might see a chink in the list or something i would be seriously lacking against. Tactics that will stop what i've written up or ways you would destroy it or a new unit you might add for the mobile style i'm going for, i'm open to suggestions. Thanks

Everybody knows you won't qualify for Ardboyz using a GK force at least that's what everyone told me last year before I qualified for the finals. I personally would not run either lists posted but to each thier own.

What did you use last year to reach the finals? I think a pure GK force probably won't push it past the semi's but that a slightly mixed force like the main one is the right way to go and can be quite nasty. Any suggestions on the primary list, not just the two added lists? Thanks

Good,

Picked the best assassin out of the group. I love and have enjoyed this guy many time over the past 10 years or so.

Bad

Termy units are just to small to handle a 2500 point game.

You have four armoured units of which two will be moving towards the enemy. Your going to find at 2500 points these two moving forward are going to be smoldering wrecks from the get go. That is unless your plan is to keep them back and use them as a fire base. Then again it would still be nice to have a rhino or something to pair up so that you can block some of the True LOS to get a four plus out of it.

If you could find the points, add in two mystic for your Inq squad. That way you can simi handle DS unit like Guard and a few other armies tend to always have.

You would need to make some changes of course to adapt to 5th but this was the list from memory I ran last year. Melta bombs and hammerhand are not as essential for 5th as your hitting all armor on the rear. Land raiders will give anyone fits but know you have 3 tl las shots and one multimelta to help hunt armor.

Not a bad list at all, though a little to much gear on most of the models for my tastes, i'm a bit of a purist and use the wargear section only for essentials . As for your inquisitor what else did he have since he would have been illegal not having 3 henchmen to join him?

I like the psycannons but have found that i like big moving troop units a little bit more and have shifted my tactics as such. I used to run PAGK's just like that 5PAGK's w/2 Psycannons and then 18 GKT's, ahhhh, 4th edition. hehe

I too love the evesor, he's like a homing missile for wounded MC's, wounded wraithlord's and smaller wounded squads and used right might even reach combat 2-3 times before the end of the game though with the new rules i'll be happy for him making it twice.

All in all some good advice though knowing what's coming and with the new rules i think the basic LR is now a must have and possibly a game saver with it's new rules so that's why you see 2 of them with the dreads in the list.

Keep the Feedback coming guys, it helps me think since i'm not gonna have time to playtest

He had mystics and warriors and I think I droped hunter killer and melta bombs. Melta bombs used to be essential for 4th but not as much any more. T-hammers in the Term squads are just added insurance for tanks and MC's. My eversor has done well for me catching opposing armor stationary with a melta bomb which is another anti armor option in my list. He has playtested well for me in 5th in my BA force. Even in assaults he draws everyone in and explodes and for the points has just become the best assassin IMO.

nope, have fun, but at 2500 points even eldar will out number you. And as we all know (or at least most of us do) even Term. armor dosent stand up to mult. armor saves

How are you going to claim objectives with this list? If you are going to qualify for finals, you are going to have to be able to take objectives, otherwise, you are usually shooting for a tie.

enemy troops that have an objective in cover will gtg and take a 3+ cover save vs your psycannons, so it will be extremely hard to get them off the objective without any sort of mobility.

Stelek posted an Awesome inquisition list that used Sisters, inducted guard and DH, that may be the type of mixed list you are looking for. Most people here thought I was underpowerered, but I thought it was great.

Sorry but of course Eldar will outnumber a GK army. That's the nature of the beast, but how many of those outnumber eldar have the weapon range to hurt the GK's? I'm going to take your comment about "most of us" as non-flaming though you probably didn't mean it that way and point out that they aren't just going to be choked down someones throat but used in conjuction with the rest of the army. I've had great success with the "fire support" GKT's in the past. So, and i mean this in a non-flaming way, until you have something useful to contribute like a list or tactic that make this list not work or what you would do against such a list please don't post flame bait on this thread. Thank you

Now for Sushicaddy

That is a good question and the way it will work is that i do advance on the enemy. it might not be a lightning fast advance but the GK's advance as they fire and will eventually assault. The command squad for the guard might spend some time in the landraiders or one of the squads depending on the opponent and mission to help secure objectives as well. Running also plays a big part in 5th for me as it means that it's possible to get to an objective in just 2/3 turns of movement. Now will i be free to make those moves, obviously not but assault moves will bring me that much closer as well, and i only need to contest, not take the enemies objective to win and that is the strategy i'm really pushing for.

As for including sisters i was considering it but buying sisters and rhinos right now is just out I don't have the models for them to add them. i'm considering switching out some weapons to get me a 6 IST squad with 2 flamers to ride in one of the LR's for objective flaming and grabbing, what do you think?

Thanks Sushi for pointing out valid flaws and asking how i would deal with actual tactics based on what i've got. Objectives are something i've given a lot of thought too.

At 2500 pts every army in the game should out number you.

Same concept here as the majority of armies you face have a 3+ save any way. You just have to torrent of fire and force as many saves as you can.

Very fun list! I honestly wouldn't change a thing with the exception of using a callidus or Vindicare assassin in order to kill off the enemy HQ's more easily for the Kill Points bump.

I'd really like to hear a what kind of armies you played against and how you did after Saturday.

If i get to go (i'm in texas and the hurricane is due to make landfall that day) i'll be happy to put up a battle report of the day.

I thought about other assassins but i think he'll be the biggest help against the big bugs that are wounded and against tough units like plague marines. Plus i just love the guy even if i had to covert one since everyone is out and they went to direct sales, which i didn't find out till monday.
